The income of the charlty Is derived from donations.
There have been no changes durln8 the year to the objectlves of the trust or to the pollcies
adopted In order to achieve those objertives.
Revlew of artlvltles-
With the encroaching sea it had already been 38reed that the time had corne to try to
dismantle the li8hthouse if there was to be any hope of preservln8 any of the structure and Its
key artefacts.
Inltlally. the trustees agreed to contrfbute £30.CKX) towards the costs of savin8 the lantern
Imurette room and other key artefacts in the lighthouse on an undertaking from the
Orfordness Lighthouse Company Limited that they would be gifted to the trust. The intention Is
that the lantern room will become part of a suitable memorial building on a site on Orford Ne55
containin8 the artefacts from the lighthouse, whith would be used for the benefrt of the publlc.
Durln8 the year, the trustees received an additional donation of £20.(KIO specifically to be used
towards the costs of savFng the lantern room and so they a8reed to tontribute a total of
£50,000.

The trustees were aware that there is a conflict of Interest because, Nitholas Gold, who is one
of the trustees is the owner and sole director of the Orfordness Lighthouse Company Limited
and also the sole owner and one of the directors of Cobra Mist limited whlch has suitable land
on Orford Ness which might be used for any rebuilding project. Nlcholas Gold did not take part
in the discussion as to how much the trust should contribute towards the cost of saving the
lantern room and other key artefacts.
In July 2020 the Covid anti-infection rules were relaxed and Anglia Demolition Limbted were
contracted to save a number of artefacts, including lifting the lantern room off the top of the
lighthouse usin8 a 50 tonne crane before then taking the rest of the lighthouse down. This
work was successfully completed during the summer week5.
The lantern room and the artefacts were removed from the slte and taken to a compound of
Cobra Mist Limited for safekeeping and restoratlon until they could be used for a memorlal
buildin&
Durln8 the year, the trustees received other donations of £1,274 and £40.(XIO was pald towards
the costs of Anglia Demolition Llmited.
At a trustees meetlng held on 25 August 2020 Mary-Anne Gribbon and Vlctoria Bingham retlred
as trustees and Mark Thacker wa5 appolnted as a trustee.
Trustees, polldes-
Risk mana8ement- the trustees have a duty to Identify and review the risks to whlch the charlty
Is exposed. The landlord Is responsible for takin8 Out reasonable public liability cover and the
trustees are satisfied that the level of cover Is sufficient. As soon as the strurture of the
lighthouse became unsound. the vislts to it ceased.
Reserves - the trustees do not consider that there Is a need for a reseNes pollcy. The funds of
the charlty are being used towards achieving the objertlves of p￿se￿Ilng the li8hthouse for a5
long as p055ible and allowing as many people as possible to visit It.
