Registered Charity Number 1156036
Quest RDA is part of RDA UK,a registered charity (244108), it is supported in its objectives by the Regional Chair and the National Board of Trustees.
The Group is managed by a committee comprising a Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, safeguarding officer, and fundraiser.
Mrs J Jones – Chair
Mrs C Hetherington – Treasurer
There are other Group members who fulfill other duties for the group. Election of trustees occurs at the annual general meeting; a retiree may be reelected and where a vacancy arises an appointment may be made by the Committee until the next AGM.
Quest RDA has insurance cover with RDA UK and in line with RDA guidance has a safeguarding policy, a health and safety policy, a data protection policy and risk assessments are carried out regularly to ensure the safety of the group’s riders and volunteers. All coaches and many volunteers have up to date first aid certificates.
Quest RDA operates from Laris Farm Equestrian Centre in Chobham and provides opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to ride and interact with horses and ponies to promote their physical and mental well-being.
Financial Review
The group was successful in raising funds £55,610 but there was no fundraising ball or sponsored ride this year. Expenses, in common with many RDA groups owning their own ponies are high and 2023-2024 was particularly costly as some ponies required significant veterinary treatment. The group maintains a sensory ride which is valuable to the riders but requires continuous upkeep. The group retains cash reserves of £122,988 and the trustees aim to retain one year’s trading costs to maintain the financial stability of the group. in the opinion of the trustees will continue to operate as a going concern.
