SRI SAMBODHI COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION Trustees, Report for the period ended 31 October 2025 The Trustees present their report and accounts for the period 01 November 2024 to 31 October 2025. The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounling policies set out in Note I to the accounts and comply with the Companies Acl 2006 and the Statement of Recommended Practice 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities, issued in March 2005. StnJ¢ture Governance and Mana ¢ment The Charity is a company limited by guarantee and not having a share capital, estsblished under a Memorandum and Articles of Association. incorporated on 15 October 2013. The Foundation was registered with the Charity Commission on 21 February 2014. The truslees, who are the directors for the purpose of company law, and who served during the period are.. l. Mrs P C Kalugampitiya Trustees No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 are residents of Sri Lanka. The remaining three trustees are UK residents. None of the trustees have any beneficial interest in the company. All the trustees are members of the company and guardntee to contribute £1 in the event of a winding up. There are no indemnity provisions in place for the trnsiees. The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the Charity is exposed to and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to major risks. Page 4 of14

AdN'ancement of the Buddhist faith and philosophy in accordance with the following doctrines: a) Theravadha Buddhist Scriptures b) Sutta Pitska (Teachings) and Vinaya Pilaka (Discipline) Discourses c) Abhidhamma (high¢r doctrine; detailed analysis of all mental faculties and elements) preached by Gaulama Buddha The Chlty will do this by propagating the Buddha's teachings locally. nationally and internationally through the Buddhist TV (https'./lwww.thebuddhist.tvl), undertaking ceremonial activities and rituals on a regular basis and holding weekly Dhamma (Buddha's teachings) talk5, discussions, meditation session5 and retreats. 2. The prevention and r¢lief of poverty anywhere in the world, by providing or &ssisting in the provision of education, training and healthcare projects. and providing necessary support for self-Su1¢1ency. 3. The promotion of religious harnlony for the benefit of the public by promoting knowledge, mutua understanding and respeci for the beliefs of different religious faiths. This has been promot¢d by providinglparticipaling in lectures, seminars. and workshops on the Buddhist faith and participating in Newham Borough schools, religtous education programme. The trustees have paid due regard to 8uidan¢e issued by the Charity Commission in deciding whkch activities the chartty should undertake. The Foundation activities and events r¢late to the ear ended 31 October 2025: Rev Madugalle Mahanama Thero is the monk-in-charge (Viharadikari) of the temple. His role is lo head the congregation and conduct worship, deliver sennons, chanting Buddha discourses and provide spiritual guidance and support for all visitingy members of the community. His activities also include delivering sem)ons and chanting at other Buddhist temples and visiting homes of members of the congregation, on invitation, to give blessings and for related spiritual activities. He is supported by monks visiting from Sri Lanka and other temples in the UK. Rev Madugalle Mahanama Thero resides at the temple. He made a private visit to Sri Lanka for about three months in October and returned in February. The praciice of live streaming of daily evening Worship and other programmes conducted at the temple via Zoom during Covtd has be¢n so successful, that the practice has continued. The devotees now hai'e a choice whether to participate in lemple activities in person or remotely via Zoom. A majority of progTamm¢s conducted at the temple is live streamed via Zoom. In addition sem]ons by monks in Sri Lank& sponsored by devotees are also live streamed Via Zoom. During the year Rev Sooriyagoda Siridhamma Thero arrived in July 2025 at the temple to observe Vas and returned soon after ihe Kathina festival in October 2025. Rev Tempitiye Indawimala Thero after spending 5 months including Vas. returned to Sri Lanka in January 2025. Rev Makandure Sumanasiri Thero after spending 5 rnonths retLmed io Sri Lanka in July 2025. Rev Kaluthara Mitta Thero arrived at the temple to observe "Vas, (ralns r¢treat) and returned to Sri Lanka after the Kathina festival in November 2024. Ven Aparelle Soratha Thero arrived at the temple in March 2025 and returned to Australia in June 2025. Ven Nepale Tissa Thero and Sukitha Mano Thero each spent few weeks at the temple during the months of December 2024 and Januarj 2025. Page 5 of14
The following monks from Sri Lanka and USA visited temple and conducted a day or half-day retreats: Vcn Aae Anomadassi Thero Ven Galgamuwe Santhabodhi Thero Ven Ginthota Wimala Thero Ven Thapowane Rathana Thero Ven Boralande Vajiragnana Nayaka Thero (Chief Prelate. Chaimian of Sri Sambodhi Community Developmenl Foundation) arrived speciaIly for the Kathina festival and returned to Sri Lanka after the festival. In 2025 March, the sixth anniversary of the passing away of our Founder and the first Chainnan. the Most Rev¢r¢nd Daranagama Kusaladhamma Nayaka Thero, was commemordted. On the 10 of March there was a special sennon from Sri Lanka in the morning, dana (lunch) for monks and a special Buddha worship in the evening by Rev Mahanama Thero from Sri Lanka. The event was attended in petson by a several devotees, while som¢ participated via Zoom. Vesak. which commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment and Passing Away of Gautama Buddha was celebrated in May 2024. Poson, which commemorates the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Arahant Mahinda Thero at Mihintsle, in the third century B.C. was celebraled in JLme 2024, Esall which commemorates Buddha's preaching of his First Sem]on, (The Setting in Motion of the Wheel of the Dhamma Sutta) and the arrival of Buddha's Tooth Relic in Sri Lanka was celebrated in July 2024. In addition to these specific events devotees observed 'eight-pre¢epts' on Sundays nearest to the full moon day, each month. The full m(K)n days in each month marks importani events in the Buddhist calendar. Many devotees visited the temple throughout the day to celebrate and to receive blessings for the New Year (I st January), the Sri Lanka Independence Day (4th February) and Sinhala and Tamil New Year (14th April). There were special evening worship programmes for each ev¢nt. Sinhala and Tamil New Year was celebraled in grand scale with games for children and adulis al a nearby park. The celebrations then continued in a hall hired for the occasion. It was attended by over l 00 children and adults. Vas from the full moon day in July (Esala) to the full moon day in Oclober (Vap) was celebraied weekly wtth Sunday worship. During these months, each Sunday worship was SFK)nsored by a group of devotees. Vas culminated in a ceremony of the offering of a Kathina robe to a monk. The Kathina ceremony was h¢ld on 5 November on a grand scale. It was held in the temple and attended by the resident monks and over 20 monks from temples in the UK. The Foundation worked closely with the Newham Schools, Religious Education Advisor and continued to support local Schools in their religious education. The visits by school children were not held due to the construction work at th¢ temple. The Foundation took part in discussions with religio *achers. The Foundation provides opportunities io the d¢votees to help the community and some of the forest monasteries in Sri Lanka. which experienced hardship. Several devotees of the ternple provided fmancial assistance to tmples and other institutions in Sri Lanka with development work and other activities and worked with organisations aiding the disabled and the poor. The religious school operated by the Foundation, which was started in 2015 function since Covid pandemtc. Trustee meetings were limited to three during the year. as there were not many activities io rep)rt. Achievements and rforn)ance The monks conduci all the programmes and live at the property free of charge and are not paid a salary. They render a yeoman service to the community on a voluntary basis. Their welfare is being looked afier by the devotees. The charity does not have any ¢mployees. All work is done by volunteers. At present the charity Page 6 of14
does not have any major fund raising events except that a small food fair with associated activities was held again during the year. The charity does not receive any grant from any public or private organisations. Due to financial reasons the fund raising possibilities are b¢ing reviewed. The devotees of the Foundation donate funds which are used for the day to day njnning expenses and further development of the Foundation. The devotees also bring requisiles for the monks and for the temple and provide breakfast and lunch for the monks throughout the year. The Foundation maintains a list of donors who contribute monthly by bank standing order. The construction work on the extension. which started in June 2021 progressed slowly due to the pandemic and ditTiculti¢s in sourcing out building materials. The devot¢¢s have been steadily donating funds, within their means. while various building regulations and procedures were compli¢d with. It has been compleied and expe¢1 to receive the Completion Certificate in the next financial year, onc¢ some queries by the Building Control ha¢ been answered. We are graleful to the many devotees who have worked tirelessly, consistently and voluntarily for the benefit of the Foundation and its development. Page 7 of14

The trustees consider that £ l 0.000 is adequate as free reserves at the present time. The charity currently holds much more than this amount. Results for the ear.. In the period ended 31 October 2024. the Foundalion had an exc¢ss of income over expenditure amounting to £ 82,639 Reserves carried forward amount to £ 468,450. The slatement of Financial Activities on Page 10 summarises the incoming sources and main are&s of expenditure. The Balance Sheet on Page I I shows the Charity's ass¢ls and liabililies at 31 October 2024. li is the policy of the Charity that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent to between three and six month.s expendiiure. The trustees consider that reserves at this level will ensure that. in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to coniinue the Charity s current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This level of serveS has been maintained throughoui the period. Donations by devotees for the construction work have continued but at a slower pace than in the previous y¢ar. The Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Aet 2011 and that an independent examination is needed. Hal'ing satisfied m)'self that the charity is not subject to an audit under company law and is eligible for independent exarninalion. it is my responsibility to.. examine the accounls under section 145 of the 201 l Act. to follow the procedures laid do in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of th¢ 2011 Act: and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts. and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken did not cover all the evidence that would be required in an audit. The report is limited to those matters set out in the nexi statement. In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: to keep accounting records in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006 and to prepare accounts which accord with the accouniingy records. comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Praclice.. The accounts have been prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards, the Ststement of Recommended Practice, 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities, issued in March 2005 and the Companies Act 2006. 1.2 Tangible fixed assets and depre¢i*tion Tangtrible fixed asset5 Other than freehold land are stsied at cost less depreciation.
