YMCA Housing Association to stsrt housing support programmes for unaccompanied esylum seekers

Reglstered Social Landlord status, that wlll transfer ov8r to the charity wlth the merger. &mrlarly, the
charity remalns engaged wlth a broeder strategic di8cusslon around the YMCA movement aGiOSS Wales
and how besl to malntaln the YMCAS charitable footprint and impact acro86 the country.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Ov8r the past 12 months, the ¢h8rfty has malntalned Its work In the fields of young ￿rers, sexual health,
gender equ8lrty projects end youth work. These malnstay projeds contlnue to provlde ongoing support
or those at risk or rnost vuln8rabl8 across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. In addition, the charfty's
sodal enterprfse ami, YMCA Plas continues lo operate succes5fulty and serve the needs of the local
communty and young p8oplg in the area. Durlng the year, the charfty successfully retalned Welsh
Govornm8nt Youth Work QualSty Mark IBfonz8 award) alongslde Its exlstlng Sllver and Gold awatd8.
Through Its partnetshlp with Cardiff YMCA Hou8lng Assoclatlon, where It supports young people 81 rfsk
of homele88n88S, the charfty now 8UPPOrts young unaccompanled 88ylum saekers across Cardlff. Thls
has resulted In houslng and youth work P￿pport combinlng to 8UPPOrt th050 at rlsk of hom8lessnes6 In
the clty In YMCA 8ccommodation as well as In our convnunlty centro. It16 hopad more 8uch projects
can start Sn th8 naar futuro.
YMCA Cardiff, through Its CEO and board contlnues to play 816adlng role In the contEnued development
of YMCAS across Wales. After 8 years at the helm of chgiring YMCA Cymru megtSngs, Its CEO stepped
down frorn thls ro18 durlr¥J the year to focus more on the day-t(Hlay work of YMCA Cardlff. YMCA
Cardlff however ierrthin3 8 key player In the Welsh YMCA movement.
Further work has been undertaken by both YMCA boards durtng the year on the merger of both YMCA8.
The risks hlghlighted last year In the housing sector on EICR r818ted issues have now been 18rgely
resofved. It 18 therefore expected that this merger, following final Financial Conduct Authoiity {FCA)
approval wlll be finaksed from 1 February 2026, finally creating a unified YMCA Cardiff.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
F5nanGlal Position - revlew at the end of the reporting period
Totsl Income for th8 year was £737.422 (2024: £784,100). Thg main source of income Is donatlons
and grants received whlch amounted to £415,21212024.' £458.674). Other sources of incom8 relate to
the service level 8greements and Investment income from rental of room hire elc.
The amount of total expenditure for th8 year was £796.04812024-. £822,532). There has been an
increase In wag88 costs and youth activity costs resufting from an increase in funding reG8ived forthose
seNlces.
Total n8t exp8nditur8 and net movement in funds amounts to £58,626 (2024: £38,432).

Reserves Pollcy
It 15 the policy of the Charlty to mak8 a small surplus 8ach year. This provides $ufficlent fvnds to cover
management, adnlnlstratlon and support costs, together with any exceptional or unplanned
expenditure.
The financial reserves Set aside since the formtion of the Charlty wovlde finandal stabllKy ond the
means for the development of the Charity's actlvitles.

areas remaln unaffected.
A revigw of its core alms and obiecliv86 will follow throughout 2026 as wel as a refresh of the charlty's
Jrrent strategic plan, scheduled to run through to 2027.

December 1966. The Cardiff Young Men's Christian Associalion was Incorporated on 20 Juty 2012

on Ihe 1 ApTII 2014 haviThJ taken over the assets, liabilities and activities of the predecessor charlty.

boards durlng the yeer on the merger of both YMCA3. The rlsks hlghllghted last year In the houslno
sector on EICR related Issue5 have now been largety resolved. It Is therefore expected that thls
merger, following final Flnancial Conduct Aulhorlty (FCA) approval will be finaltsed from 1 February
2026, fjnally creallng a unlfied YMCA Cardiff,

Houslng Association from Febru8ry 2018 and has a dual Chlef Executiv8 role for both
organisatiorA.
Durlro the year, the charlty recelved £39,174 12024: £37,567) from Cardlff YMCA Houslng
Association In relation to rental and other recharges and was charged £113.226 P024". £112,587)
from C8rdlff YMCA Houslng Assodatlon fot premlseg costs and management fees.
At the ye8r-end an aggregate balance of £22,710 was due from the YMCA Houslng Assodatlon to
th8 charity (2024: £25.368 due to YMCA Housing).
