Objects and activities

Our Mission is to improve the lives of children and young people with caring responsibilities by providing safe, quality support to individuals and offering an inclusive, wide ranging, and holistic approach which considers the needs of the whole family.

Public benefit

The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when planning activities of the charity.

Achievements and performance

Our activities programme has given young carers a chance to relax, have fun and take time out from caring. In April 2021 to March 2022 we ran 33 in-person and on-line activities.

We are immensely proud of the development of our Exploration Programme that gives young people ager 8-17 a safe space to share their thoughts, feelings, needs and concerns. It empowers individuals with the skills and confidence to manage the challenges faced by being a young carer.

Family support – Our Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is a programme for parents. It is a preventative approach that empowers parents to keep themselves well so they can deal with life’s challenges. In November 2021 we ran a two-day wellness experience.

Reserves policy

It is the intention of the trustees to establish sufficient free reserves to cover running costs as well as to extend the support provided to our young carers. We will focus on building our unrestricted income through increasing the awareness of the charity and its work, particularly within the local community.

Plans for future periods

With the appointment of Lisa Wheadon as manager we will continue to review the work of the charity, our offering and the demands on our resources. Our staff and volunteers will continue their fantastic work that is vital for the many young carers in need of our support across the Winchester District.
