locations allow for this. Detailed minutes are prodU￿d within 2 weeks of
Trustee meeb'ngs.
As a result of successful Virtual Meetings and confirmation by the Board,
meetings are, with the exception of one meeting which will be considered
the AGM, now held virtually using MS Teams facility. The December
2023 meeting was held in person, in Newport, Gwent. This meeting was
planned to coincide with a Learner Christmas Lunch. financially
supported by our charity. This allowed those Trustees present to witness
practical eviden￿ of our financial supporL including the benefits to
learners at first hand.
Our Main sponsors remain RICOH UK and Wedge Galvanising Group.
Financial risk is reduced by the establishment of a minimum balance of
£20,000. Any short term reductions below this figure require Board

The Motivation & Learning Trust {MLT) has continued to engage in
significant fundraising strategy in order to ensure 501vency and offer
support to those who are entitled to access grants under the constitution
of the charity. Relief of hardship and improvements in Learner mental
health are now a major focus.
sin￿ the acquisition of our supported organisation by Learning CuNe
Group (LCG), there has been an expansion of MPCT Centres. Currently
there are 39 Centres and the long term aim is to establish up to 60
centres throughout England & Wales. This wll lead to an increase in
Learner numbers and those that are eligible for financial support.
The Board recognises this challenge and are working to increase
fundraising activities to address the anticipated shortfall. During the
reporting period a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) was signed
wth LCG providing reassurance that MPCT Centres would fundraise
through physical activits'es such as log-runs and similar activities.
The Chair and other trustees have. where possible, visited MPCT
colleges during the reporting year to recognise and reward fundraising
efforts at local level. Award Ceremonies are no longer held at centres but
similar acts-vities are held to raise the profile of MPCT ir) the local areas.
The Chair made several vis(ts to Centres during the period.
The MLT has made grants to young people in crisis where need has
been both evident and urgent In addition to this, the charity has
continued to enrich the leaming of young people wrth the aim of
developing the individual as a whole. The MLT has also continued to fund
activtties such as offshore sailing. adventurous training and enhancing
self-confiden￿. team building and self-worth.
The MLT Welfare Trustee, with limited financial authority has, in
conjunction with the MLT Finance Trustee, proved effective in a rapid
deployment of financial support to Leamers in n*d. MPCT Centre Staff
now have a
roven and timel
rocess to facilitate this

Achievements and performance
Summary of the rnain
achievements of the charity
during the year
Unfortunately, our Annual Gala Dinner planned for 22 Jun 24 was
cancelled due to a poor response. Thankfully, very little was expended
and we are hopeful that the event can be staged again in 2025.
A very successful joint MLTIRICOH UK Golf Day was took place in
August of the reporting year. Over 100 players took part in the event held
on the 2010 Ryder Cup Course at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.
As our major sponsor, RICOH UK has demonstrated their continuing
support for our Charity.
A Joint MPCTIMLT Scholarship Fund was previously in place but has
now been suspended, as those previously in the scope for financial
support are now covered by other schemes already in place wÈth LCG.
The Board of Trustees agreed to hold the scheme in abeyan￿ to ensure
altemative funding continues to be available.
Welfare support to Leamers continued throughout the period and I
commend to you the performance of our Welfare and Finance Trustees
who ensured that, no deserving case requiring financial support went
unsupported.
Our charity continues to support Chnstmas lunches at Military
Preparation college centres. Specifically, the Trustees held their
December meeting in Raglan Barracks, where the Newport Centre is
based. Staff and Trustees served lunch to Leamers and parents and this
lunch was part fijnded. These arrangements are repeated each year and
have proved very popular.

RICOH UK and Wedge Galvanising have provided ongoing corporate
financial support during the period. We recognise and greatly appreciate
their supporL
As a result of the MOU signed with MPCT and LCG there has been a
significant increase in fundraising by centres. This has allowed the Board
to provide increased funds for activities that fall wthin our Aims &
Charter.
Repeat regular donations and MPCT Staff fundraising has covered the
outgoings in welfare support. Having no salaried staff as an overhead
has meant we have fared much better than other similar charities during
the period.
