Trustees, Report- Finding Furever Homes
Report of the Trustees for the year ended 31 October 2021
Trustees: Andrea Newton. Llnda Gou8h and Sandle Dutton.
Ob'ectives and Aims
The Trust's objective and aims remain:_ to promote humane behaviour towards dogs, by
providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and securlty for dogs which are in need of
care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment or poor circumstances, and to educate
the public in matters pertaining to anim31 welfare in general and the prevention of cruelty
and suffering amongst dogs.
Achievement and erformance
Our accounts for the year ended 31 October 2021 have again been prepared by a firm of
Chartered Certified Accountants, from the books and records maintained throughout the
year. The accounts show income for the year of £32,928 the majority of which came from
appeals and donations.Sadly the Coronavirus, lockdown and other such issues has continued
to cause a massive set back for all this year and we have been unable to attend public shows
and events in the way we would have liked.
We spent £29,408 in the year, of which £22,720 was Spent directly supporting rescues with
the cost of food, vet bills, bedding, coats and fleeces, behaviourist and training costs along
with toys and other enrichment items for dogs in kennels. We have again had a range of vet
bills that have proved quite costly, and particular cases such as the litter of puppies found
with Parvo, was an especially expensive vet bill. Sadly despite our best efforts, 4 of the puppies
died but 3 went on to thrive and are now happy in homes.
Lockdown has also resulted in people taking on puppies and later abandoning them which
has meant that places in rescue kennels have been very limited. This has meant we have had
to increase our network of foster homes and support people to have dogs in their homes in
order to keep them safe. This is much harder work than using a reElStered kennel and so has
taken a lot of our time vetting and checking and then supporting families with their charge.
We are still very much committed to helping any dog, regardless of age, breed or issue if we
think there is a possibility of a positive outcome and continue to use a variety of professionals
to support us in that work this year including a professional behaviourist (Caroline Lewis) and
physiotherapy and hydrotherapy services IRawPhysio) as well as paying vet bills for dogs who
were in need.
We are also giving direct 5UPPOrt to small rescues such as Team Paw, Skylor's, Bruno's and
others, with the advertising, rehoming, home checking, funding and giving practical help and
support with advice for difficult situations when called for. Most are mixed breed rescues,

which takes dogs from a variety of backgrounds, including from local council pounds. crueltv
cases, dogs whose owners have passed away and dogs who are signed over by owners who
can no longer care for them, as well as an on80ing arrangement for ex racing greyhounds who
are no longer wanted. The majority of dogs tend to be bull breeds and hounds- we still have
an over breeding crisis in the UK and irresponsible owners. sadly.
As mentioned, we have not been able to attend any shows, so any fundraising has been done
online, selling donated items on a fun auction site, or simply asking for donations when we
have needed to help dogs like the Parvo Pup5 and we are always grateful to our supporters
for their generositv.
We continue to be entirely self-funded and have again worked very hard with a Small team to
raise the funds needed to support the projects that we have committed to and we continue
to support Chica, who is doing well in her foster home. Sadly we lost Frazer to incurable
cancer. and we are delighted to stay in touch with dog5 like Rocky and Evie and others as well
as helping more dogs find loving homes. We have worked with an organisation called Safe on
Sofas and contributed toward5 transport costs. neutering of strays and behavioural support
with dogs with complex challenges and all in all are satisfied we are making that difference
that we set out to.
We have funds kept in reserve for the dogs in Furever Foster to whom we have ongoing
commitments as part ofthe contrart with the foster families and we anticipate needing funds
to support dogs as once again the economy and cost of living increases are both being heavily
impacted. We are trying to ensure that we will always be there as a safety net if any of our
dogslfamilies require us during these very testing and difficult times. and are finding that our
support is very much in demand right now.
We are still continuing to offer support to other, smaller rescues in a non-financial way bv
giving them access to our social media networks that we have worked hard to develop and so
they can advertise their dogs to a wider audience in this way. We continue to fund a website
where we advertise dogs too and also to make appropriate charitable donations to do8s in
need of help - in line with our original aims and objectives and assuming Trustees are all in
agreement.
We have now helped to rehome over 950 dogs
so although much less activity, fewer
rehomes. we feel we are still making a difference, one dog at a time, and hope to be able to
continue to do 50 in the future especially given the current economic climate as people may
have to give up their dogs, or cannot afford to take care of them or rescues struggle for
funding as supporters cannot afford to donate. The next 6-12 months look to be quite testing
for everyone so we must stand strong and see what we can do to help.

Approved by the Trustees on 20 June 2022 and signed on their behalf bv:

**Report to the trustees/** Charity Name **THE FINDING FUREVER HOMES CHARITABLE TRUST members of**

**On accounts for the year 31.10.2021 Charity no 1155693 ended (if any) Set out on pages** 1 to 2

**Respective** The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. **responsibilities of** The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year **trustees and examiner** under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

   - examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,

   - to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and

   - to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

- **Basis of independent** My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given **examiner’s statement** by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

**Independent** In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my **examiner's statement** attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act or

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records

I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
