Achievements and Perfornianee
It has taken time for us to recover from the various lockdowns and economic situation during
the last three years. Trustees. Teaching Staff and Pupils have all experienced the 'knock on.
effects, either through the lack of fundraising opp)rtunities in the UK or the reduction of
Trustees being able to network in the usual way. In Keny4 the management team have had to
contend with the change in the Kenyan Government at short notice, insisting that all Primary
Schools now accommodate the 'Lower Secondary, classes. We have bttn able to complete three
new classrooms on the top floor of the building, which still leaves two more classrooms to
complete. This will be part of our next financial year aim.
We have been grateful to supporters who have supported our appeals over this last fmancial
year. In addition, our Trustees have looked at different ways of raising funds, such as a
supporter taking part in the London Marathon, a three Peaks Challenge, a Dance-a-thonn, and a
celebration evenL to celebrate Iwenty years of working as a charity. We were very ￿ateful to the
Independent School in Eindhoven for their massive. sponsored walk fundraiser, which has
supported our medical project. We thank Dr Odiero for his commitment in ensuring that all
pupils receive medical care.

8 students from a University in La Rochelle in France spent a total of 3 months between thern
supporting Unity School and helping the pupils with French. Sports and other subjects. They
also raised funds in a Marathon in Nairobi to fund the Science Classroom at Unity School.
The Trustees are pleased to report that our reserve funds are near to where we wish them to be.
During the f￿anCIal year four Trustees trdvelled to Unity School

the requirements of the Charities Act 2011

Statement of Trustees. responsibilities
Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare accounts for
each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the charity's financial activities during the
year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing accounts giving a fair and
true view, the trustees should follow best practice and:
Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently.
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have
been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the a￿ounts.
Prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the
charity will continue in operation.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records which dissolve with reasonable
accuracy at any time the fmancial position of the charity and which enable them to ensure that
the accounts comply with The Charities Act 201 l. They are also responsible for safeguarding
the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of
