The Trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019). ## **Chair's report** This year was obviously severely curtailed due to Covid 19. We did manage to play a dozen or so games, but most of these were played behind closed doors or with very limited supporters so our income from this was severely restricted. We did, however, take every opportunity to play or train despite the additional costs involved. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** The Memorandum of Association states that the Charity's objectives are to benefit the public, and in particular the inhabitants and community of Bilston/Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas by: i) Promoting community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the playing of Association Footbal and other versions of such which is deemed capable of improving health. ii) Providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for sport and recreation, plus other leisure time activities for such persons who have a need for such facilities regardless of their age, ethnicity, social deprivation or economic circumstances, with the aim of offering healty recreation and improving the condition of life. iii) Advancing a team ethic for children and young persons through the means of sport and in any other such way that the Trustees feel will benefit the community within the accordance of the Charity guidelines. The Charity's principal activity is the promotion of sports engagement and education by using football as a vehicle for change. This is acheived through a number of football based programs delivered throughout the period. We, as Trustee Directors, consider that these activities and programs satisfy the requirements of the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. ## **Objectives and aims** The trustees have considered the Charity Commision's guidance on public benefit, including the guidance 'public benefit: running a charity (PB2)'. ## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE** Our main achievement for this year was keeping the Club going and supporting volunteers and supporters through an unprecedented 12 months. Towards the end of the year we were able to reconfirm our partnerships with Bilston College and FC Darlaston, and to enter negotiations with The Sturrage Academy with the aim of setting up a further mens team and a partnership with their academy players joining our current under 19's set up. The UEFAB courses were halted for a time, but progress was made and this should be completed next season. Our under 13's and 14's cups were not completed, but several games did manage to be played which was thoroughly enjoyed by those who were able to participate. Plans for the 4g pitch and wasteland adjacent to the ground were put on hold but still very much in our plans, and progress was made towards the end of the year and were full steam ahead by June 2021. Our finances were improved with the various grants available from the Government/Council/Football Association and others, which has left us in a healthy position to start 2021-22. ## **Significant activities** Whilst the Charity plan to maintain the partnerships and initiatives already established, it will also look to expand on the numbers that participate in various events. ## **Achievements against objectives** As stated, our main achievement for this year was keeping the Club going because of Covid and we achieved this thanks to fantastic support from various authorities and organisations. ## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** After an unprecedented, covid restricted year, we are satisfied with the financial performance of the Charity in this financial reporting period. A net surplus of £24,802 was recorded compared to £4,014 (2020). ## **Reserves** The current levels of reserves are currently sufficient to meet next season's expenditure. Eveything considered, it is a vast improvement on last year and we continuously seek to raise more funds during the 2021/22 season. Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act'). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act. ## **Independent examiners statement** I have completed my examination. Accounting Policies** ## **Basis of accounting** The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, except for investments which are included at market value and the revaluation of certain fixed assets and in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) ‘Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)’, Financial Reporting Standard 102 the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102), and the Companies Act 2006.
