Objectives and activities

The principal objects of the charity are for the benefft of the pUt￿lC generally and in pa￿'cUlar. the inhabitants of

cricket and to promote other sporti'ng activities capable of having a benefiaal effect on health.

Achlevements and perfomiance
•. Revlew of a¢tlvltl•$
With the appointment by the charity of a Project Development Officer during the year. the charity has been able
lo promote community ongagemenl across two Core programmes focusing on healthy lifeswe acb'vititss through
cricket. These activities have tsrgeted socially isolated groups such as refugees, in particular arriwng in K8nl
from Afghanistan. and men and women aged over 50.
The development of these activities has enabled Ihe charity to raise funds directly from Local Authorities, such
as Kent County Council, lo deliver for those aulhorib"es. healthy lifestye and social integration services, in
partnership wrth Kent Cricket's Community Cricket Team. Furthei funding for these programmes has been
secur8d from othèr chariti8s such as Swrt England and Agè UK, as wèll as via othèr convantional ftJndr3ising
activities.
Financial review
. Going concem
After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expeciation that the Charity has adequate
resources to conb'nue in operational exislence for the foreseeable future. For this reason, they continue to adopt
the going con￿rn basis in preparing the financial statements. Further details regarding the adoption of the going
concem basis can be found in the accounb.ng w)lirie5.

b. Reserves policy
The charity had incoming resources of £89,982 12022.. £26.0201 and resources expended of £63,961 12022..
£25,881) in the year, resulting in net asseis and total funds of £288.32612022.' £262,305) at 31 October 2023.
The charitys reserves will be used to fund agreed activities.
The reserves policy is that three 131 months, exptrndilure by the Trust should be held 8$ protection against
significant short lerm financial pressures. and tolal unrestricted funds of th￿e(3) months, expenditure should be
held, as cover lor any longer temi and residual exposures.
The Reserves Policy will be reviewed annualty and approved ty the Board of Trustees.

a. Constltutlon
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which is govemed by its Constitution dated 27 January
2014. The charity was originally registered in the name of Kent Cricket Recreational Tru51. This was amended to
Kent Cricket Development Trust on 3 March 2014.
b. M•thods of appolntm•nt or •lectlon of Truste•s
The management of the Charity is the responsibilty of the Tnjslees who are elected and co-opted under the
terms of the Trust deed.
Plan8 for future p•rlod•
Cricket has a unique abilily to connecl communities and improve lives. It is a sport that transcends generations
and has the ability lo reach beyond social boundaries in a way that few other sports can. The charity aims lo
make a positive impact in the communities where Kent Crickei play. by engaging with individuals and social
groups that can become, and often do feel. isolated. The t*8rity's aim is to make a differenc8 by ensuring that
Kent Cricket, as a major sporting brand. is identified as a Club that cares about its whole community.
The charity is increasing its programmes and is launching its No Boundaries initsative to work wth other enb'lies
including Kent Police and EFL Football Clubs lo tackle anti-social behaviour and other issue5 affecting young
people across Kent.

I report to the charity Trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 October
2023.

As the Trustees of the Charity you are responsible ft)r the preparation of the accounts in accordance wlh the
requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (Ihe 2011 Act'l.
I report in respect of my examination of the Charitys accounts carried out under secb'on 145 of the 2011 Act and
in carryng out my examination I have followed the applicable Dire¢b"ons given by the Ch8rity Commission under
section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act.

The charitable activities conlinue to be to actively encourage. support and promote the playing and
developmenl of recreational cricket at all levels and age groups in Kent, and to use cricket as a means of
improving the heallh and wellbw'ng of communities acr￿&S Kent.

2.1 Bas1$ af pr•paratSon of financlal statèm•nt$
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021
Accounting and Reporting by Ch8rilies'. Stslemenl of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Rgpublic ol Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191, the Finanryal Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republi¢ of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charities Act 2011.
The financial statements have been prepared lo give a 'lrue and fairf view and have departed from
the Charities (Accounts and Repy)rtsl Regul8b"ons 2008 only to the exlenl required lo provide a 'lrue
and fair, view. This departu￿ has involved following the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the A¢￿untIng and Reporting by Charits'es.. Slalemenl of Recommended
Prartice effertive from 1 April 2005 whith has $in¢e t)een withdrawn.

The Tnjslees confim that there are no material un¢ertainlieg of which they are aware that could
impact upon the charitys ability lo continue as a going concem.
2.3 Incomo
All income is recognised On￿ the Charity has entiuement to (he inoJme, it is probable that the
income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably.
Grants are indudgd in the Ststement of financial activities on a re¢eivable basis. The balan¢9 of
income received lor specific PLJrposes but not expended during Ihe period is shown in the relevant
funds on the Balance sheel. Where income is received in advance of entitlement ol receipt, its
recognition is deferred and induded in creditors as deferred in￿me. Where entitlement occurs
before Income is received. the Incowne is accrued.

Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal OT constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit
lo a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and
the amount of the oblig8lion Can be measured reli8bly. Expenditurtr is cl8ssifitrd by aclivily. The costs
of each adivity are madg up of the total of dire¢t ¢osts and shared costs. induding support ¢osts
involved in undertaking each aclivily. Direcl cosis attributable to a single activity are allocaled directly
to that activity. Shared costs which contribule lo more than one activity and SUPPDrt costs which are
not attributable to a single activity are apporboned between those activities on a basis consistent with
the use of resource5. Centr81 stsff costs are alloc8led on the basis of ts.me spent, and depreciation
charges alloc8lwJ on the portion of the asset's use.
Expènditure on tharitabl& activities is incurred on direcily undertaking the activities which further the
Charivs objectives. as well as any associated support costs.
Grants payable are charged in the year when the offer is made except in those cases where the offer
is conditional, such grants being ￿cOgnised as expenditure when the conditions attaching are
fulfilled. Grants offered subject lo Conditions which have not been met at the year end are noted as a
commilmenl, bul not accrued as expendilure.
All expendrture is indusive of irrecoverable VAT.

the effect of the time value ol money is malerial. the provision is based on the present value of those
amounts, discounted al the pre-tax discounl rate ihat reflects ihe risks specific to ihe liability. The
unb*inding of the discount is Tecognised in the Statement of financial activities as a finance cost.
2.8 Flnancial instruments
The Charily only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualty as basic financial
instrurnents. Basic financial instrumenls a￿ initially recognised at transaction value and subsequently
measured at their settlement value.

2.9 Fund a¢¢ountlng
General funds are unrestricted funds whith are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordan￿ with specific restrictions imposed by
donors or whith have been raised by the Charity for parb'cular purposes. The costs of raising and
administering such funds are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use ol each restricted
fund is sel out in the notes to the financjal statements.

The Disability Fund is 3 9eneral fund that is built up through donations and wll be used for speafic
disability related projecis as they arise.
The Alpha Foundation Fund is for developing recreational facilities and will be made to clubs who make
specific reque51s to update or repair their current facilities.
Thg Sgvenoaks District Council $.106 Fund represents monies received from Sevenoaks District Coun¢il
to enable the best opportunities for developing cricket within the Sevenoaks D.C area. to include facilities
development. local club development and running addilional partiapation programmes across the region.
First Chang8 Refugee Programme is a programme locused on using Cricket as a m8ans of inl&graling
refugee families and unaccompanied a$￿￿M seeking minors through sport.
50 Overs Programm8 IS targ6ted al those over 50 who want to engage in a healthier lifeSt￿e and uses
cricket lo address issues such as social isolation amongst difficult to reach groups.
