Heathfield and Waldron First Responders (charity number 1155472) Trustees’ Annual Report Chairman’s Charity Commission Report for 2024 (reporting year)

The Trustees record their appreciation of the continuing efforts of the team leader Hannah Crush, her predecessor Theo Parfitt who has retired as Treasurer in favour of Bronwen Laurenson, now a Trustee together with Dr Peter Venn, trainer Andy McGarvey, and David de Boer who have dedicated so much of their time to this important service to the community.

The Trustees continue to plan eventually to recruit, train and equip additional Responders to bring the operating strength of the organisation to fifteen, and have purchased defibrillators to this end though the recruitment process is in the hands of the South East Coast Ambulance service. We shall concentrate on improving training with specialised equipment to meet the increasing skill-sets now demanded, and in particular to assist the management of patients requiring help having fallen, to which end we hope eventually to purchase one or more Raizer-2 chairs. We shall continue to give public demonstrations of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, to support the installation and maintenance of defibrillators appropriately within the community when requested, and to publicise their locations though it was not within our brief to finance this. We are grateful to the many organisations which have raised money so we can equip our Responders.

Where appropriate and agreed with the Parish Councils of Heathfield and Warbleton, we also maintain in good working order certain defibrillators in the Heathfield and Warbleton areas which have been installed by public donation.

The requirements of the Charity Commission have been met.

The Trustees wish to record their appreciation of the continuing encouragement we receive from so many organisations within the community.
