environment by 2030. While there is an enormou5 amount to celebrate. the rnost vulnerable places
and people in our Society are increaslngty being left behlnd. The social moblllty gap Fs widening.
We have a food system that stru88les to provide healthy, sustainable, dfve￿e dlets for everyone In
the UK. We have htgh and 8rowin8 levels of obesity, and the highest leveb of household food
Insecurlty in Europe. Calorles from healthy fth)d tonsrstently cost more than calorles from unhealthv
foods. And the wealthler you are. the higher p)rtlon of household Income is asslgned to consuming
vegetables. Thls has a dlrect Impatt on health and wellbeln& with obesity and poor diet linked to kev
heatth issues Includln8 heart disease. diabetes and cancer. Poverty was once considered a concern of
more 'developin8 countrles. than the UK. Yet we have recently seen the emer8ence into publlc
awareness, the leve15 of 'period F#)verty amon8 YOUft8 8lrls In the UK and the fart that the number
one reason why under ten-year-okls attend Accident & Emergency 15 dental poverty. We lfve
surrounded by the 26% of young people on free School mea15 who will never fulty partklpate In sports
or the arts.
