affluent and healthy county, inequalilies do exist that we need to work collectively to address.
Health inequ81ilies in North Yorkshire are usually consislenl wfch other ch8llenges, such as higher crime rates, unemployment, and low
activity levels. Within our largeled work we focus on reducing hèalth inèqu81ilies in the arèas of highèst need, as identified by partners,
local insight, and Indices of Deprivation data.

Supporting adults lo be more physically active has many individual benefits, from improving mental and physical health, lo developing the
softer skillsels that can positively impact employment opp)rtunilies.

During 2023124, North Yorkshire Sport received income through charitsble donations linked to sponsorship of events.
We are pleased to report that no complaints were received during the year ended 31 sl March 2024.

Financial review
We have generated £1,877,826 of income in the year and expended £1,796.972 on delivering our charitable objectives.
This resulted in a net surplus for the year of £80,854. After transfers between funds this resulted in a surplus in unrestricted general funds
of £32,238, 8 surplus in design8lad funds of £719 and 8 surplus of £47,897 in raslricled funds.
Trustees were pleased with the overall result for the year.

Prlnclpal Fundlng Sources
Sport England is the key funder for the partnership. This year an amount of £484,050 was received for Primary Role with a number of
projects highlighted benefilling from further Sport England funding.
Auditors
Fortus Audit LLP were appointed as the charitable company's auditor during the year ended 31 March following its acquisition of
JWPCreers LLP.
Structurol governanco and manag•mont
North Yorkshire Sport Limited is a charitable company limited by guarantee, incorporated on 2 October 2013 and registered as a charity
on 8 January 2014. The company was established undor a Memorandum of Association which established the objects and powers ol the
charitable company and is governed under ils Articles of Association. In the event of the dissolution of the Charity, the Members are liable
lo pay an amount not exceeding £1 towards the liabilities and eosls of dissolution.
The process and procedure$ for the Members Gan be found in the ArtiGles ofAssocialion and Govemance document for the company.
The Trustees of the Charity hav8 Control of the Charity and its property and funds. All Trustees are by virtue of Ih8ir appointment also
Members ol the Charity and no other person olher than a Trustee may be admilled as a Member of the Charity. As al the 31 Mar¢h 2023,
the subscribers to the Memorandum of Associallon were still the only Trustees.
The Board can have a maximum of bmelve Tru51ees at any one tlme and as at 31 March 2023 was made up of seven members. Day to
day responsibility lor the administration and provision of services is delegated lo the Chief Executive.
During the year 2023124, Ihe Finan￿ Sub-commillee continued lo focus on the finan￿ and risk management of the whole Charity.
During th8 year the Finance Sub-committee have revi8Wgd th8 Risk Manag8mgnt R8gisler on items that relate lo finance and k8pI a
close eye on the finances of the Chsrily. With the Finance Sub-committee looking al these two areas al regular meetings it has allowed
the main Board of Trustees lo focus in greater detail on other areas including the wtenlial growth of the Charity and measuring and
demonstrating Impact.
The Risk Register is reviewed by the whole Board of Trustees on an annual basis and any items requiring action are highlighted al Board
meelings.
During the year 2023124. th8 Human Resource subcommittee has provided advice and guidance on stsff related issu8s. This has
in¢luded reviewing appraisals, making remuneration recommendation lo the Board and review of policies and procedures relating lo staff.
Similarfy, to the Finance Sub-commtttee. this has allowed the main Board to have confidence that staffing issues are being considered
regularfy by Trustees.

the most significant frameworks which are directly relevant lo specific assertions in the financial slalemenls are those that relate lo the

Based on our understanding, we designed our audit procedures to identify any non-compliance with laws and regulations idenlifSed Sn the
paragraphs above.
We also performed audit work over the risk of management override of controls, including testing ol joumal entries and other adjustments
for approprialengss, evaluating Ihg busingss rationale of significant transactions outside the normal ¢oursg of business and r8vigwing
accounting estimates for bias.

Charlty Informatlon
North Yorkshira Sport Ltd is a privale company limited by guarantee incorporated in England and Wales. The registered office is
stsled in the Trustees, Report.
Accountlng conventlon
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the charitable company's governing document, the Companies
Act 2006 and 'A¢counling and RetM)rting by Charities.. Ststemenl of R8commended Practi¢8 appli¢abl8 to ¢hariti8s preparing their
8¢counls in accordance with th& Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland published in October
2019".The charitable company is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The financial ststements 8ra prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charitsble company.
The fSnancial statements have been prep8red under the hSslorical cost convenlSon, modSfied to include certaSn items al fair value.
Thè principal aecounling policies adopted are set out below.
1.2 Golng Concern
Al the Ilme of approvlng Ihe flnanclal slal8menls, Ihe InJ8lees hav8 a r88sonable expectallon that the charitable company has
adequate resources lo continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees contlnut lo adopt the golng
concern basis of accounling in preparing the financial statements.
1.3 Charltable funds
Unreslricled funds are available for use al the discretion of the Iruslees in furtherance of their charitable objectives.
Designated funds comprise funds which have been s81 asid8 at the discretion of the Iruste8s for specific purposes. The purposes
and uses ol the designated funds are sel out in the notes lo the financial slalemenls.
Restricted funds are subject lo specific conditions by donors as to how they may be used. The purposes and uses of the restricted
funds are sel out in the notes lo the fin8nci81 slalemenls.
Income
Income is recognised when the charitable company is legally entitled to it aft8r any p8rfomianc8 conditions hav8 b88n met, the
amounts can be measLJred reliably, and it is probable that income will be re￿ived.
In-kind donations are only included in income where the benefit lo the Charity is reasonably quantifiable, measurable and material.
The value placed on Ih8se r8sourc8S is the estimated value to the Charity ol th8 service or laGilily reG8iv8d.
1.3 Exp•nditur•
Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis when a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully
recovered, and is included as part of the expenditure to whiGh il relates.
Charitable gxpgnditurg comprises those ¢osls incurred by the Charity in the delivery of ils activities and services for its
beneficiarie5.11 includes both the direGt C05t5 and support costs relating 10 Such aclivilies.
Governance costs include those costs associated with meeting the conslilulional and slalulory requirernenis of the Charity and
inclLJde its audit lees and costs linked to the strategic management of the Charity.
Support costs include central functions and have been allocated lo activity cost categories on a basis consistent with the us8 of
resources.
1.6 Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured al cost or valu8tion, net of depreciation and any
impairment losses.
Depreciation is r8cognised so as lo write off the cosl or valualion of asseis less their residual values over Ihgir useful lives on Ihe
following bases..

1.7 Impaim)•nt of fixed assets
Al each reporting tsnd date, the charitsble company reviews the carrying amounts of ils tangible 8ssets to dètermine whether there
is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the
asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss lif any).
1.8 Cash and cash tquival•nt8
Cash and eash èquivÉlenls include eash in hand, deposits held al call with banks. othèr short-lerm liquid investments with original
maturities of three months or less. and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in Gurrent liabilities.
1.9 Flnanclal Instruments
Thè ch£rllable company has eleded lo apply the provlsions of Secllon 11 'Basle Flnan¢lal Instruments, and Sedlon 12 '01h8r
Financial Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments.
Financial instruments are recognised in the charitable company's balance sheet when the charitable company b8com8s party to
the conlr8clual provisions of the inslrumenl.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial slalemenls, when there is a legally
enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention lo setlle on a nel basis or lo realise the asset and
sellle the liability simultsngously.
Basic financial assets
Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances, are measured al Iransaclion price including transaction
costs.
Baslc Ilnanclal Ilabllltlgs
Basic financial liabilities, including creditors and bank loans are recognised at Iransaclion price.
Trade creditors 8re obligations lo pay for goods or $8rvices that have been acquired In the ordlnary course of operations from
suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities il payment is due within one year or less. 11 not, they are presented
as non-currenl liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at transaction price and subsequently measured al amortised cost
using the effective interest method.
D•r8cognilion of finan¢i81 li8biliti•s
Financial liabilities are dereeognised when the charitsble company's contractual obligations expire or are discharged or cancelled.
1.10 Taxatlon
As a registered charlty the oryanlsallon Is exempt from Income and corporallon tsx falllng wllhln sectlon 505 of the Taxes Act 1988
or section 252 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992 to the exlenl that its income and gains are applied towards the
haritable objecls of the Charity and for no other purpose.
1.11 Company Status
The charity is a company limited by guarantee. In the event of the charity being wound up, the liability in respect of the guarantee
is limiled lo £1 per member of the charity.
Critical accounting estimates and judgements
In the application of the Charitable company's accounting policies, the trustees are required lo make judgements, eslimales and
assumptions about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates
and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered lo be relevant. Actual results
may differ from these estimates.
The estimates and undedying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions lo accounting estimates are recognised in
the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the revision and future
periods where the revision affects both current and future periods.
