Chairs report 202312024
It has been a successful and enjoyable year at BAHC, wilh a variety of events.
spanning arts and herita8C, tliai havc been well reLeived by ihe local community.
Our gallery has gone from strengyth io strengjth. We have local artists lined up until the
end of2025. some of whom are artists who want lo return for another session. The
building has really bcnL'fittcd fr()m this popular g)allery and we have had soine lovcly
commenls in ()ur vi%itnr's bnnk. The r(iom is Iransformed cach t time a new exhibilion
is hungF and we therefore aitracl rLgiular visitors.
Thc Theatre space is also used more and more for regyular classes, from dance. to
martial arts lo yogya, with everyone enjoying the ambiance the spaLe provides.
Since startingl our NT l.ive screeningjs (in .lan 202lihese have picked lip and have
beLn joined by C inema Live s music<il serics and Lxhibition on Screen prc)dLILtions
that focus on an artist. popular artistic ihcmcs or &yal lery. Oiir footfall has increased
with ihese screenings as has our mai ling l 1st.
Our little Community Cinema Group is also popular once a Inonih We are now
ret£iining? our cxisliiig) adult mcmbers. with new members joining? IJ nfortunately, the
aftcrnoon family malinec hasn't becn so pc)pular. so we'll consider ifwe keep this
oingi nexi year. The new c()Infortablc chairs purchased for the theatre have proven
very popular, so a well worth investment last year.
Our History in the Afternoon talks are now so successful that it is becoming ditricult
to find enough subject matter and speakers for them. but we are sure this is something
that we can overcomc.
The museum. showcasing Kayser Bondor, was also very popular throughout thiq
season. Many people visited and we also received very good feedback. However,
being conscious of the space requiring a lot of work t() Inake it a really popular local
visitor attraction, we set about Iryingl to obtain funding7 for new doors, Icvcl l ing ihe
floor and obtaining new exhibilinn display cases. I"his would also make the building
brighter and more attraclive externally.
Unfortunately our numerous fundingj attempts were not succcssful, therefore it was
felt that perhaps we should complete what work we could to make the museum arca a
little more fit for purpose within our means. On making this decision ihe floor was
levelled with new flooring ihroughoul. I"he High Street sidc, where we hoped to place
new doors was internally pla%ler boarded to make a complcte wall a disused extcrnal
door covered) wilh tivo windows, as this would allow us lo ulilise this space lor
exhibitions The room was decorated and new e.xhibition cases purchased.

We all agree ihe space is so much better and we look forward to the museum fully
opening with new displays, showcasing Baldock's long and varied history, laler in the
aulumn. Our thanks go to Ted and Brendan for their time and effort in gelting Ihe
work compleled.
At BAHC we are tolally reliant on our volunteers so we really do appreciate all of'the
time. effort and rcsources they bring, whalever t.orni thal ma y take We would not be
able to make the changes inside the building and keep up with maintenance, if this
were not the case, so a big thank you. as ever, to everyone involved.
Many thanks
