Trustee's Report

The Trustees present their report and annual accounts for the year ended 31st December 2024

Principal activities

The Charity's principal activity during the year continued ministering to church members and the community.

The Dove Chapel raises money from members of the church and partners of different projects that we are running. The donors are detailed on the accounts. Additional funding is sourced twice weekly from cash collections during Sunday service and Wednesday Bible studies and additional

ones come from special events such as crusades and music concerts etc. The traditional biblical method of giving during services remains the sole approach to raising funds, and no other fundraising activities have been conducted.

Financial Review

Principal Funding Sources. Donations and gifts are the primary sources of funding for Dove Chapel. These contributions have been vital in covering weekly operational costs, payment of church Rent, logistics, and supporting community outreach programs such as Project Revolve which aims at rescuing youths who have become criminals and wielding knives and sharp objects to harm others helping people who are homeless in our little way, helping victims of domestic violence and abuse through financial support to find their own “safe place” so they can detach themselves physically from their bullies and their oppressors, alleviating poverty, and providing relief to families facing financial difficulties.

Investment Policy and Objectives

Currently, the charity’s cash holdings are not sufficient to warrant investment beyond a standard bank account. However, if this becomes feasible in the future, the trustees will determine the most appropriate investment strategy.

Reserves Policy

The trustees have evaluated the charity’s reserve requirements in accordance with guidance from the Charity Commission. They have determined that maintaining free, unrestricted reserves sufficient to cover running costs is a prudent approach.

Risk Management

The trustees regularly review potential risks that could impact the charity’s operations or continuity. They also assess operational and business risks, implementing measures to mitigate any significant challenges that may arise.

Activities and achievements in 2024 The Dove Chapel focus on its main aim which is to contribute to the advancement of the Christian faith by following the principles of the Bible. We strive to make this happen by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the words of God to all corners of the world and peoples of all ages through our Fivefold vision

The charity’s primary activity during the year continued to be ministering to both church members and the broader community. This was achieved through a wide range of services and events held on-site, online, during monthly outreach programs, and at the weekly community warm place.

Key Achievements:

• Witnessed steady growth in attendance at both online and in-person events. Recognising that not everyone has returned to physical gatherings, the church invested in upgraded equipment to enhance worship experiences for all.

• Provided free advice, resources, and services to those affected by economic and social challenges, while also directing community members to local council services. • Delivered physical and emotional support to church members and the wider

community.

• Organised free seminars and conferences aimed at empowerment, education, and encouragement. These events catered to various groups, including youth, women, men, and leaders. Many participants shared testimonies of being empowered and strengthened through these sessions.

The church continued to fulfill its mission by offering a welcoming place of worship through weekly Sunday services, featuring uplifting worship and practical Bible teachings designed to encourage, empower, and equip attendees.

Facilities and Initiatives:

• Expanded the children’s ministry by converting part of the main auditorium into classrooms to facilitate a new Teenagers’ class, offering practical and relevant Bible teaching.

• Launched weekly online Bible studies and prayer sessions, fostering spiritual growth and character development among participants.

• Upgraded sound equipment to enhance the delivery of the gospel message, resulting in increased online engagement and a better worship experience.

Community Impact:

• Hosted monthly community outreach events featuring free food parcels, prayers, and support for individuals and families.

• Provided weekly food parcels every Sunday to members, visitors, and the wider community.

Dove Chapel launched the “Project Revolve” which is one of our main projects channeled to combat the menace of knife crime that has reached a crescendo among the youths and children of African Origin. As the year 2018, Police recorded 40,829 offenses involving knives or sharp instruments, up 6% from the year before (2017).

The Office for National Statistics said cases of murder and manslaughter, excluding terror attacks, increased by 12% in 2018. There were 732 killings, up from 655 in 2017 - the highest since 2007. Some core members of Dove Chapel attended the burial of a young child who was killed by a knife by a gang and whilst at the burial some youths attending the burial were attacked again, it was then we knew we had to join forces with the Government. As of the end of March 2023, there had been about 244 cases of knife-related deaths according to data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS). Knife crime which is mostly perpetuated by youth of African descent is a leading course of Homicide in the UK.

The purpose of “Project Revolve” is to engage the youths in different activities to occupy them and lead them away from the path of violence. Project Revolve involves programs such as Music recording sponsorship, sporting activities & sports matches, emotional & psychological programs for parents and their children, youth camps and parties, youth mentorship, masterclasses, purchasing of drama and film production facilities, and scholarship grants.

in the maiden year of Project Revolve, we were able to rescue 21 youths, who had their lives completely changed,15 of them learned trades while the rest have gone to college for studies, they are all doing well and leading meaningful lives and have also been recruited into the project to rescue other youths. The numbers have increased from year to year and over 400 youths mostly of African origin have been rescued with this year recording a total of 158. In the coming year, we are targeting to spread this project beyond London to other cities like Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester and Northampton.
