DespitetheWindrushscandalandcontroversyoverthehostileenvironmentfiguringprominentlyinnationalmedia over
thelastfewyears,inpracticaltermsatanationallevel2019sawlittlechangesto2018.TheHomeOfficemissed the
chancetolearnandengageandtochangetheculturewhichledtothetragiccasesofpeoplebeingmade destitute,
detained and removed through unfair and inhumane policy backed up by institutional administrative incompetency.
Recentlythegovernmenthaslookedtochallengetherightoflegalrepresentativestorepresenttheirclients' best
interestsandaremovingtorestricttherighttochallengegovernmentdecisionsthroughpotentialJudicial Review
changes, so the hostile environment continues seemingly unabated.
```

On the frontline, in 2019 RAMFEL's focus remained on;

- Giving access to justice for those denied it by legal aid and the legal system.
```

- `Providing support to those struggling whilst caught in the immigration system` 

- `Helping those recently granted status to successfully transition to their new life` 

## **`Immigration advice`** 

```
RAMFELfocusedonthosewhohavebeendeniedlegalaidorwhomwereotherwiserestrictedfromaccessing justice.
Undocumentedchildrenandtheirfamiliescontinuedtomakeupthemajorityofourlegalwork.Mayorof London
researchestimatesthatover100,000childrenareinthissituationinLondon.We'reproudofour100%successrate in
2019inrepresentingthem,whichservestoillustratethatmanyyoungpeoplearebeingdeniedcitizenshiporstatus and
forced to live in poverty simply due to legal aid cuts.
```

Alongsidetryingtoexpandourreachtoprovidelegaladvice,RAMFELwilllooktouseourexperiencetoinfluence any
potential changes to government policy or law in this area.
```

```
In2019wecontinuedourworkwithRoughSleeperstoprovideimmigrationadviceandhavehadsomesuccess in
securingstatus.Howeverwehavealsofacedverydifficultchallengesingatheringevidencetobeableto submit
applicationsforpeoplewho,duetoroughsleepingandthehostileenvironment,havebeencutoutofvarious services
which would give create official records.
```

In 2019 we submitted 266 immigration applications
```

- `we lodged 8 appeals (some of them heard in in 2019, some in 2020, some still pending)` 

- `we had 7 appeals heard (some of them lodged in 2018) and 6 of them were successful (the unsuccessful case` 

- `subsequently gained status in 2020 through RAMFEL representation)` 

- `we had 5 applications rejected - 1 already won on appeal, 2 of them have a pending appeal, 2 have been referred for` 

- `JR and 1 we re-lodged another application which has since been granted`

Whilstouradviceservicesaresupportingpeopletoachieveofficialstatusandgetonwiththeirlives,thereisalsoa need
tohelptackledestitutionandtheeffectsofbeingstuckinasylumorimmigrationsystems.Ourweeklyfoodbankand drop
incentreranweeklyproviding3640foodparcelsaswellastoiletriesonceamonth.Thepandemicforcedustoadapt the
way we deliver this service, and the team did an outstanding job is facing up to this challenge innovatively.

## **`Basis of preparing the financial statements`**

preparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingbyCharities:Statement of
RecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordancewiththeFinancial Reporting
StandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland(FRS102)(effective1January2019)',Financial Reporting
Standard102'TheFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andthe Companies
Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

DespitetheWindrushscandalandcontroversyoverthehostileenvironmentfiguringprominentlyinnationalmedia over
thelastfewyears,inpracticaltermsatanationallevel2019sawlittlechangesto2018.TheHomeOfficemissed the
chancetolearnandengageandtochangetheculturewhichledtothetragiccasesofpeoplebeingmade destitute,
detained and removed through unfair and inhumane policy backed up by institutional administrative incompetency.
Recentlythegovernmenthaslookedtochallengetherightoflegalrepresentativestorepresenttheirclients' best
interestsandaremovingtorestricttherighttochallengegovernmentdecisionsthroughpotentialJudicial Review
changes, so the hostile environment continues seemingly unabated.

Undocumentedchildrenandtheirfamiliescontinuedtomakeupthemajorityofourlegalwork.Mayorof London
researchestimatesthatover100,000childrenareinthissituationinLondon.We'reproudofour100%successrate in
2019inrepresentingthem,whichservestoillustratethatmanyyoungpeoplearebeingdeniedcitizenshiporstatus and
forced to live in poverty simply due to legal aid cuts.

Alongsidetryingtoexpandourreachtoprovidelegaladvice,RAMFELwilllooktouseourexperiencetoinfluence any
potential changes to government policy or law in this area.

In2019wecontinuedourworkwithRoughSleeperstoprovideimmigrationadviceandhavehadsomesuccess in
securingstatus.Howeverwehavealsofacedverydifficultchallengesingatheringevidencetobeableto submit
applicationsforpeoplewho,duetoroughsleepingandthehostileenvironment,havebeencutoutofvarious services
which would give create official records.

In 2019 we submitted 266 immigration applications

- `we lodged 8 appeals (some of them heard in in 2019, some in 2020, some still pending)` 

- `we had 7 appeals heard (some of them lodged in 2018) and 6 of them were successful (the unsuccessful case` 

- `subsequently gained status in 2020 through RAMFEL representation)` 

- `we had 5 applications rejected - 1 already won on appeal, 2 of them have a pending appeal, 2 have been referred for` 

- `JR and 1 we re-lodged another application which has since been granted`

DespitetheWindrushscandalandcontroversyoverthehostileenvironmentfiguringprominentlyinnationalmedia over
thelastfewyears,inpracticaltermsatanationallevel2019sawlittlechangesto2018.TheHomeOfficemissed the
chancetolearnandengageandtochangetheculturewhichledtothetragiccasesofpeoplebeingmade destitute,
detained and removed through unfair and inhumane policy backed up by institutional administrative incompetency.
Recentlythegovernmenthaslookedtochallengetherightoflegalrepresentativestorepresenttheirclients' best
interestsandaremovingtorestricttherighttochallengegovernmentdecisionsthroughpotentialJudicial Review
changes, so the hostile environment continues seemingly unabated.
```

On the frontline, in 2019 RAMFEL's focus remained on;

- Giving access to justice for those denied it by legal aid and the legal system.

- `Providing support to those struggling whilst caught in the immigration system` 

- `Helping those recently granted status to successfully transition to their new life`

RAMFELfocusedonthosewhohavebeendeniedlegalaidorwhomwereotherwiserestrictedfromaccessing justice.
Undocumentedchildrenandtheirfamiliescontinuedtomakeupthemajorityofourlegalwork.Mayorof London
researchestimatesthatover100,000childrenareinthissituationinLondon.We'reproudofour100%successrate in
2019inrepresentingthem,whichservestoillustratethatmanyyoungpeoplearebeingdeniedcitizenshiporstatus and
forced to live in poverty simply due to legal aid cuts.
```

Alongsidetryingtoexpandourreachtoprovidelegaladvice,RAMFELwilllooktouseourexperiencetoinfluence any
potential changes to government policy or law in this area.

In2019wecontinuedourworkwithRoughSleeperstoprovideimmigrationadviceandhavehadsomesuccess in
securingstatus.Howeverwehavealsofacedverydifficultchallengesingatheringevidencetobeableto submit
applicationsforpeoplewho,duetoroughsleepingandthehostileenvironment,havebeencutoutofvarious services
which would give create official records.

In 2019 we submitted 266 immigration applications
```

- `we lodged 8 appeals (some of them heard in in 2019, some in 2020, some still pending)` 

- `we had 7 appeals heard (some of them lodged in 2018) and 6 of them were successful (the unsuccessful case` 

- `subsequently gained status in 2020 through RAMFEL representation)` 

- `we had 5 applications rejected - 1 already won on appeal, 2 of them have a pending appeal, 2 have been referred for` 

- `JR and 1 we re-lodged another application which has since been granted`
