ACHIEvfi.MENT AND PFRFORMANCE
OrganisAtionMI summury
Cliichesler District f4oodbank supports poople experiencing hardsliip to eiid hlinger and poverty in our district. We do
this by gliving people ¢mergency food and houscliold ess¢nlials. At the sam¢ Ilme, w¢ listen lo people and help Ihein
improv¢ tlie situations that liave led them lo expericiice povety.
We offer direct support, referrals to a widc range of services and SiEnposlingi lo r¢levant support. We challengie unfair
systein8 that drive people into poverty tlirouLyh our Lampaibyns and Seek to give pe()ple who havc ¢xperienccd povcriy a
voice.
In the year startins I sl April 2023, Chiclicster District Foodbank 8aw a sniall d￿rease in the number of food parcels
that were given out comparod to the previou.8 year. Our end of year slatistics showed that 6,258 emergency food parcels
were providod to people f¢1cing? hardsliip by ihe fioodbank in the past 12 months. This showed a I l 0/0 deci'ease in Ihe
nutnber ol. eniergency food parcel8 distributed compared to the same period last year. This decrease reflects our vision
to Cnd the need loi. foodbaiiks and the impact of our intervention work on pttoplc acc¢ssing our service. Olir figiures for
23124 show that w¢ are slill seeiiigT an increci.se in the number of new Llienls Loine to the foodbank due to Ihe
cost.ol'.living crisis, but we aic also sceing ihe avcragie number of vouchers per clicnl g?0 down becausc of the improved
8iginposiin&F <ind r¢ferrals to otlicr tigieiicies aiid to our Citizcns Advi¢¢ Worker, who we coininissioned in Augyu.8l 23.
Averagc vouchors per person 18 ciirroi)Ily 2.25, as opposed to 2.97 pei. person in the previoiis yoar. We have also seen a
drop in numbers in the Inonths where Ihe govemment makes a cost of living payment.
During 23124 we found 430/0 of all oiir cli¢nts needed our sei'vice becau8e of the rising cost of essentials. These clients
were cither earning a low wage or could not managye on ihcir bencfits due lo the fact they were living in a District with a
high cost of living. 25U/o of oui. clients iised our service duc to the imp¢lCt of physical or meiital he<ilih conditions.
