REPORT TO AGM – SEPTEMBER 2025
WELTON VILLAGE HALL
The village hall committee now consists of Sue Sutherland, Mark Coupe, Steve Bichener, Chris Smith. They join the elected members Duncan Webber (Chair), Judy Proto (Secretary), Sarah Souter (Treasurer), Hendrika Folwell (Bookings Secretary). We were pleased to add Tim Prince and Sam Daziel as new committee members recently. I would like to thank everyone for their commitment to their roles, meetings and helping with working groups.
We had a good 2024/25 with a turnover of just under £11,000. Hire revenue was very similar to 2023, and we decided to continue to invest in improving our building so spent approximately £4500 on refurbishing the main hall floor and updating the lighting in the kitchen, and creating the gateway to the spinney. Whilst we managed our other costs effectively during the year – we did report a small loss for the year of £1500 which we financed from our reserves.
I would also like to thank our new cleaner Helen Turland for her superb efforts to maintain the hall for all users plus David Brown and Carol Bertozzi to maintain the garden and flowers which certainly makes the frontage brighter.
I am very pleased we could renew our contract to have a free broadband supply from Gigaclear to allow us to operate a FREE community Wifi hub. This should allow users at the hall with their events or just be able to connect to the internet. We need to keep advertising the facility.
I am are so pleased the hall is so consistently used during the week in term time and now we have activities such as Pilates, Village Yoga and Messy Play who continue over the holiday periods. We have Weekend Church, Bellringers, many parties and of course the Village Fete, Make, Bake Grow and Show. There was no Soapbox Derby this year. Maybe it will return in 2026 !!
I look forward to continuing as Chair so we can keep the Village Hall as a central part of the Welton community.
