## **Description of the charity’s trusts**
The Centre for Islam and Medicine (CIM) is governed by a constitution Type of governing document which has been in place since 2013. (eg. trust deed, constitution) The CIM is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). How the charity is constituted (eg. trust, association, company) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed by Trustee selection methods a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity (eg. appointed by, elected by) trustees.
In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIM.

In accordance with the constitution, the object of the CIM is, to advance **Summary of the objects of the** education among the public in the subject of Islamic medical ethics in **charity set out in its** particular but not exclusively by working with healthcare professionals to **governing document** assist them to identify and address the ethical needs of Muslim patients. Over the course of 2022, the CIM continued its partnership with the Centre for the Study of Islam in the UK at Cardiff University on an innovative new research project into Islamic bioethics entitled “Understanding British Muslim Religious Professionals’ Perception of the Organ Donation Process”. The Centre is one of the leading academic institutions for research and teaching about Islam and Muslims in Britain. We confirm the trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

Over the course of 2022, CIM continued its partnership with the Centre for the Study of Islam in the UK at Cardiff University on an innovative new research project into Islamic bioethics entitled “Understanding British Muslim Religious Professionals’ Perception of the Organ Donation Process”. The Centre is one of the leading academic institutions for research and teaching about Islam and Muslims in Britain.

## **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**
During the period, the charity did not have any unrestricted or designated funds. All funds were non-designated or general funds. The charity aims to hold enough funds to meet three months’ operating costs of the charity. This is monitored through a six-month cash flow forecast which is updated monthly. The cash flow forecast is prepared by the Treasurer and reviewed by the remaining trustees during the quarterly trustee board meetings.
