Trust
Members elected as deacons automatically become Managing Trustees
All incoming Managing Trustees are required to read the relevant documents, and to attend (whenever possible) the regular Managing Trustee meetings.
Ongoing review to identify and deal with major risks is implicit in the purpose of each Managing Trustee meeting.
THE PURPOSES OF THE CHURCH SHALL BE:-
(1) THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BASIS OF FAITH PRIMARILY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY WITHIN GORSEINON AND THE SURROUNDING NEIGHBOURHOOD: AND
- (2) SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES AS SHALL, IN THE OPINION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CHURCH IN A CHURCH MEETING, FURTHER THE WORK OF THE CHURCH.
Worship services twice each Sunday. Meetings for youth and younger children weekly in term time. Prayer Meetings/Bible Studies weekly. Monthly Coffee Morning and monthly midweek service. Support for Christian workers at home and abroad. Participation in community annual Lantern Parade. Engagement with local schools.
Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission guidance on community benefit.
The easing of lockdown restrictions meant that meetings which had been only online gradually resumed in the building, viz: Sunday Morning services had already restarted in 2020. Sunday Evening services recommenced on 6/6/21. Monday Club restarted on 13/9/21. Average attendance was 5. Youth (Thursday) restarted on 16/9/21. Attendance averaged 5-7. Wednesday monthly Coffee Morning resumed 6/10/21 and attendance varied from about 14-24. The weekly Tuesday evening Prayer Meeting recommenced 22/6/21. We also started a new meeting, a downstairs monthly midweek morning service, on 15/12/21, for those who find it difficult to attend in the main building on Sundays. Attendance averaged about 18-20. Members continued to donate to local food banks. The Gorseinon Lantern Parade, in which the church usually takes part, was not held. There were no school visits to the church as there were before Covid, but the intention is to resume these.
We continued to support a UK prisons worker, 2 families doing Christian work abroad and one family doing Christian work in the UK.
