Girls Football League.

The trustees have overall control over the charity, operational control is given to the Executive Football Club Committee at the AGM. The AGM follows standard protocols to vote in club executive committee members and trustees. This being made up of a quorum of four trustees, Chairman, Treasurer, Welfare Officer, Secretary and one non trustee who is the vice chairperson.

The Executive Committee hold regular meetings to discuss and agree running of the club, full club meetings with team managers and coaches are also held throughout the year.

Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)

The club recognises that some families have been affected by economic changes not only as a result of the cost-of-living crisis, displacement but also as an ongoing result of the pandemic.

Where there has been financial hardship or the child is in the care system or seeking political asylum the club committee have used discretion in relation to the paying of fees and sponsor a number of children allowing them to join the club and play football.

The growth of the club in recent years has seen an expansion of the number of girl’s teams, the club has invested heavily into qualifying new coaches and ensuring additional helpers have completed all the required training.

This is not only to ensure that the FA recommended child to DBS adult ratios are met (FA take recommended adult to children rations from the NSPCC recommendations and guidelines) but is seen as a long-term investment into the future of grassroots football.

Exmouth United FC is run solely by volunteers. We are proud of the huge contribution our committee members, member volunteers, coaches and managers make to the club in giving children opportunities to get involved in grassroots football.

The committee works extremely hard behind the scenes to ensure the club continues to run safely and efficiently. Coaches put in immense amounts of personal time, effort, and energy into the planning of drills and training sessions, and in many cases provide opportunities beyond this in the form of outings to watch football matches as well as team bonding events.

Our club secretary has continued to volunteer for the Exeter District Youth League as the Assistant Child Welfare officer providing guidance for all clubs and teams in the area.

All that participate in the club activities also receive huge amounts of support and encouragement from parents, grandparents, and other club supporters. This provides a successful mix of family friendly and open community feel within the club. The club are very grateful for everyone’s contribution.

Section D Achievements and performance

The club was affiliated to the DCFA Summary of the main A total of 15 youth teams were registered. achievements of the charity Nine teams were entered into the Exeter and District Youth League during the year Six teams were entered into the Devon Girls league. The club gave over 250 children the opportunity to participate in football this year. Matches were held on Saturday morning / afternoons and Sunday mornings. Operation of match day football at multiple venues: Lease of football pitches @ Bicton Agricultural College, Woodbury Recreational Ground, Brixington Academy School. Hire of local council pitches at Withycombe Common from East District County Council. Operation of football training venues. Hire of astro turf pitches for training at Exmouth Community College and Bicton Agricultural College. The club operates exclusively 10 months of the year from August to May, additionally the month of June is optional to coaches to run free of charge and we have therefore offered football for 44 weeks of the year for all age groups. The cost of venue hire for training and matches continues to be our highest outlay each season. As a continued investment in providing football opportunities in the closed season paying for teams to enter local tournaments, with the committee agreeing that each team were able to take part in 3 tournaments supported by the club. The club’s main income remains from player membership subscriptions. It was with great pride we were able to hold another celebratory presentation day with each child being recognised for their contribution during the year receiving an individual medal or trophy. Each year the Andy Guy Shield is awarded to a player who has shown commitment and dedication to the club which extended past his own player journey. Each year the Cross Cup is awarded to the coach who has demonstrated commitment and contributed the most to the club’s ethos in the past year. The annual presentation day was a huge success and it was wonderful to see so many children, friends and families enjoying themselves. The club, through from the trustees, committee, managers, coaches and helpers all recognise that football is not just about the number of goals scored, or games won, it is about learning the enjoyment of celebrating with friends when times are good and supporting each other when things don’t always go right as an individual or group. It is these life lessons and times for learning that create the foundations for personal growth and build resilience for the future. This is something that everyone at the club can be extremely proud of.

It has been another outstanding year for Exmouth United, with children across all age groups seeing their hard work rewarded through improved skills, strong team performances, and memorable experiences both on and off the pitch. Whether reaching county cup finals, winning leagues, or simply growing in confidence and forming new friendships, every player has achieved something meaningful. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our volunteer coaches, managers, and helpers, whose commitment continues to drive the club forward.

The clubs continued growth and plans to increase opportunities for children and young adults in the local community to participate in football is directly related to the availability of training and match venues. This means continued participation levels and further increase in growth are always at risk due to insufficient facilities in Exmouth are and East Devon.

Although there are finical incentives to charities on tenure with rate reductions, we do not receive any relief for any of the training or match day venues we hire from Exmouth Community College or East Devon District Council or Bicton Agricultural College (which is part of Cornwall College).
