- Wincobank Village Hall AGM 2022 23

Chairs Report

It is now 6 years since we opened our Wincobank Village Hall which continues to go from strength to strength. We recovered well from the pandemic virus which closed us down for a while and the popularity of the Hall has continued to grow within our community. The bookings have increased with a nice mix of Community events and Private bookings, all of which helped to bring in much needed income and keep our bank balance fairly healthy. This is vital, we still have not secured the lease, but no doubt the Council will be requiring us to sign one very soon, which will leave us with extra running cost.

Every week we have held our well attended Coffee mornings on alternate Thursdays and on the opposite alternate Friday we have our Coffee afternoon with Anne’s buns. We also continued to run the successful Singalong each month thanks to external funding from SOAR . Our regular weekly bookings have included; Zest, Baby Ballet, After School Club, Grappling, Aerobics, Toddler Group, Weight Watchers, Yoga classes, Sports Massage. Wincobank people should be very fit.

Over the year there have been many successful events held in the Centre, including our Brains of Wincobank Quiz night, our Christmas Fayre, the proceeds from which we bought a defibrillator for the Centre, our Community Christmas Party and we organised a brilliant Silver Jubilee, Children's Art competition, together with St Thomas’s Church and the Scouts, in which all our 4 Junior Schools participated. This has now become an annual event. The Centre is now regularly booked for ‘Market Research’ bringing in useful income There has also been many private bookings including several Charities, the Local Elections and we now host a Sports Massage business. We are continuing to attract many private family parties and celebrations.

I think we continue to be one of the best used Community Centres in the City and as I said in my last year’s report none of this would happen without our dynamic duo Secretary Anne and Alan Crompton, with the support of the Trust members particularly our treasurer Pete Foyle, who keeps us on the straight and narrow. I would just like to place on record my thanks to all members of the Village Hall Trust, all of whom have worked hard throughout the year to make it such a success

Keep safe everybody. Cllr Pete Price Chair
