## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR TO 30 JUNE 2023**

## **Objectives**

To advance education and training by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities not required to be provided by the local education authority for education at Robert College of Istanbul, a co-educational high school founded in 1863 in Istanbul, Turkey.

To advance education and training by the provision of financial grants to students in financial need in order that they attend the Robert College of Istanbul and to assist graduates of the Robert College of Istanbul in advancing further education.

## **Structure, governance and management**

Robert College UK is constituted under a Trust Deed dated 20 November 2013. It is a registered charity no. 1154664.

The Trustees who have served during the year and since the year end are set out on page 1. Where there is a requirement for new Trustees, they would be identified and appointed by the remaining Trustees.

The charity is organised so that the Trustees meet regularly to manage its affairs. It does not employ any full or part-time staff but its administration is managed under the direction of the Trustees by consultants.

## **Risk Management**

The Trustees have examined the major strategic, business and operational risks which the charity faces and confirm that systems have been established to enable regular reports to be produced so that such risks are continuously monitored and that appropriate steps can be taken to lessen these risks.

## **Reserves policy**

The Trustees ensure there are adequate reserves to meet liabilities as they are due. All of the charity’s funds as at 30 June 2023 are general unrestricted funds which are expendable at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the objects of the charity.

Reserves balances are monitored on a regular basis by the Trustees, who review the level of reserves in the light of future funding requirements. The Trustees consider the reserve at year end 30 June 2023 of £153,951 to be sufficient to settle the liabilities as they fall due for a period of 12 months.

## **Grant making policy**

Grants are awarded to beneficiaries at the discretion of the Trustees; ensuring grants awarded are in furtherance of the objects of the charity.

## **Public Benefit**

The Trustees confirm that the activities of the charity are carried out, in line with its charitable objects, for the benefit of the public and in accordance with the guidance in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF ROBERT COLLEGE UK**

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 June 2023 which are set out on pages 5 to 7.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
