## **International Committee for Rehabilitation Aid to Afghanistan (ICRAA)** ## **Charity number 1154654** Annual report 2020-2021 ## **Our achievements and progress in helping needy Afghan people** Dear Supporters, I am pleased to share with you the ICRAA’s annual report ending in 2020-2021. This year we continue to see the negative effects of Covid-19 had on Afghan people and on people across the world. There were limited opportunities to share our work with potential donors and with individuals due to lockdown. Nevertheless, we are grateful to have some generous donors who continued to support our activities during this period. Before I talk about our programmes for the needy people in Afghanistan, I want to highlight the current situation affecting our project beneficiaries i.e., in Afghanistan. The ICRAA charity has been calling for peace for many years and we continue to struggle for this important work which is a dire need for innocent Afghan people. The peace talks have also been postponed and innocent Afghan people continue to die in great numbers almost every day due to war, Covid-19 and hunger. Our struggle in the past involved meeting with members of parliament both in the United Kingdom and in Afghanistan. We also had meetings with community members to hear their concerns about the real and stable peace process and documenting the needs of Afghan refugees who voluntarily return to their homeland. We also sent a letter to Queen Elizabeth II and to Pope Francis in Vatican about possibly receiving support for peace in Afghanistan. During this year, we saw a great need in helping newly returnees to rebuild their life in their homeland particularly women headed families. The ICRAA funded the distribution of fruits and forest trees for the vulnerable newly returning families to Afghanistan from neighbouring countries recently. More than **1,400** beneficiary member families benefited from the fruit and forest trees project. Approximately **17,000** fruit and forest trees were distributed to member of project beneficiaries this year. They were also provided with basic skills such as watering and maintaining the plants. The project also saw an increase relationship building between different community groups with one another which will be helpful to our work in the future particularly for the real and stable peace. The total cost per beneficiary family was around £7 Sterling pounds and each family receiving 12 fruit/forest trees and training on how to take care of the plants. We spent on the project a total of £10,000 UK Sterling Pounds during this financial year.
