SORP reference

achievements of the charity,

charity’s work has made to

Para 1.20 2024 was a special year for Pendyrus
Male Choir, the choir having been
formed on 24th May, 1924. It was,
therefore, our centenary. Pendyrus is
proud to be the longest continually
active male voice choir in the
Rhondda Valleys.
Among the many concerts and
engagements, the prominent ones
were our Centenary Weekend
Celebration in May with a Gala and
two other concerts in the local
community; a tour of Normandy in
June where we were invited to take
part in the 80th commemorations of
the D-Day landings. Here we took part
in five commemoration ceremonies
and a concert in Lisieux Cathedral. In
August we took part in the National
Eisteddfod of Wales and held a
candlelit concert at the Eisteddfod to
celebrate our 100 years.
Our collaboration with the world
famous Cory Band continues to
flourish with two joint concerts again
this year.
We have developed further
collaborations with other male choirs
including Treorchy Male Choir and
Morriston Orpheus. With the latter we
performed a joint concert in Aberdare.
We’ve also performed with the
Richard Williams Singers as well as
young soloists from LARS, an
organisation in Llanelli which gives
up and coming young artists the
chance to broaden their stage
experiences. Most of our concerts
benefit a range of charitable
organisations.
