**Northern butterflies provide a safe friendly and creative environment for adults with learning disabilities or mental health issues to create quality art and the appreciation of art for people with disabilities and the public in general view to promoting the integration of persons with a disability into the wider community.**

Northern Butterflies faced challenges especially during the Pandemic. We are a resilient organisation and as staff and volunteers we have varied skills that work tremendously well and contribute positively to the organisation. We sustained our objectives and met the needs of the beneficiaries. We add value to peoples lives to everyone who attends and engages in projects with Northern Butterflies. We promote health and have a positive impact on wellbeing, increase skills and let everyone have a voice and shape the

programme with their ideas. We secured funding to deliver online sessions of art, music, and dance. We were given a community allotment from the local council during covid this was a valuable space to create, support those suffering with mental health and get people together outdoors and for the

wider community. We secured funding to obtain a landscaper for the community allotment which was also supported by volunteers. We secured funding for materials, equipment and an accessible portaloo unit. We secured funding to deliver horticulture and creative workshops in the community allotment. We secured funding for music workshops in the studio and in outdoor spaces which we created soundscapes and songs which accompanied out artworks as part of the light works at Durham Lumiere BRILLIANT in November 2021. As the services started getting new students we secured funding from Northumberland County Council for new studio desks, chairs, and furniture. We secured funding from NHS Northumberland Trust to create a permanent art display in the corridor of Cramlington Hospital. We worked in partnership with Homestead creating craft packs for the Elderly which were distributed to care homes around Northumberland. We were able to increase our services by having both the studio and the allotment which added value to people’s lives.
