Church Officers:

1. Financial Report:
The Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts has been received.
The report commended our accountant and treasurer for their hard work, and for the well maintained accounts.
2. Buildings Report:
The emergency lighting has been tested, two lights failed to last for the full 4 hour test, the work has been carried out to replace them.
The fire extinguishers have been checked, and are in good working order.
We have had a burst pipe in the ceiling above the downstairs toilet, this was caused by a squirrel, which had made its nest with the lagging from the pipes, allowing frost to cause the pipe to burst. The pipe has now been re-routed from the downstairs kitchen, through the meeting room, to the toilet, to prevent this from happening again in the future. We continue to have a leak in the roof in the upstairs kitchen, crèche and ladies toilets. The flat roof area needs to be completely replaced with fibre glass or rubber roofing materials. We are obtaining quotes for this work to be carried out.
The church broadband service has been switched to a new provider, offering far superior speeds, and new Wi-Fi equipment has been installed, and now covers all areas of the church premises.
A new external notice board has been installed, to replace the old one, which had started to let water in when it rained.
3. Life Groups Report
Over this last year, the life groups have met together as one group, in the main church building, which has been well supported.
Pastor Kevin Shaw from Encourage International, brought some teaching to the church about the Holy Spirit. The first three sessions were conducted over zoom from Ireland, but he was able to be with us in person for the final session.
Another of the courses we ran, was an 8 week prayer course.
Both of these teaching courses were very well received by all who attended.
4. Worship Team Report:
Services are going well, even though we are now working with a reduced worship team. The leaders thanked the worship team for all their hard work, again over this last year, the standard of worship was excellent and of the highest quality, enabling the congregation to really engage in the praise of God and entering into His presence in worship. Worship practices are on a Monday evening, twice a month.
We have continued with our Dwell evenings, taking place 4 times a year, where a wonderful sense of God’s presence was felt by all those who attended. We thank God for His goodness to us.
A new headphone system for the drum enclosure has been installed, and is working well.
5. Family Fun:
The Christmas Family Fun morning was held on Saturday 3rd December, the event was excellent, and everyone enjoyed it.
6. General Report:
On Sunday mornings, we met for worship and the word, with fellowship and refreshments afterwards. Our regular congregations have been around 30+ people in attendance.
Our annual fire drill was held at a Sunday service in November.
Our Life Kids have met every Sunday morning to learn and have fun together.
We have communion in our sharing service on the first Sunday of each month, where people have the opportunity to share their testimony, bring a word of encouragement or ask for prayer.
Life Church Matlock, worked alongside churches together in Matlock, to provide warm spaces. Our church was open every Tuesday from 10am to 2pm throughout January and February.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity¹s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
To keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
• To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act Have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
