Life Church Matlock Trustees Report April 2020-2021

Church Officers:

Andrew Robey (Church Pastor / Member / Director / Trustee) Aaron Himsworth (Member / Director / Trustee) Alan Smith (Member / Director / Trustee) Gary Jones (Member / Director / Trustee) Graham Dobson (Member / Director / Trustee) Graham Powell (Member / Director / Trustee)

1. Financial Report:

The Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts has been received.

The report commended our accountant and treasurer for their hard work, and for the well maintained accounts.

2. Buildings Report:

The emergency lighting has been tested, two lights failed after two and a half hours, just falling short of the length of time they are required to last for, the work has been booked to replace them.

The fire extinguishers have been checked, and are in good working order. There is an ongoing leak on the side extension roof, which we are looking to get quotes to repair.

New radiators have been installed in the crèche and office, and are working well. A new external notice board has been installed, and is now in use.

The new De-humidifier has been purchased and is working well in the cellar. We are looking for a quote to have new flooring laid in the crèche.

3. Life Groups Report

Over this last year, the life groups have met together as one group, in the main church building, which has been very well supported.

4. Worship Team Report:

The worship team do an amazing job at providing us with worship of an excellent standard, especially considering we are a small rural church.

Worship practices have started back, meeting every other Monday.

We have resumed our Dwell evenings, taking place 4 times a year, with a wonderful sense of God’s presence.

The Drum enclosure has been purchased and installed, this has given us better control of the balance of sound, and the overall volume.

5. Family Fun:

Our family fun events have not yet started back up.

6. General Report:

On Sunday mornings, we met for worship and the word, with fellowship and refreshments afterwards. Our regular congregations have been around 30+ people in attendance.

Our Life Kids have met every Sunday morning to learn and have fun together.

We have communion in our sharing service on the first Sunday of each month, where people have the opportunity to share their testimony, bring a word of encouragement or ask for prayer, during an extended time of worship.

Four new TV screens have been installed, and a new laptop has been purchased, this has all been set up, with new free media software, everything is working well, and it has made a vast difference to the look and clarity of the display, for song lyrics, and especially videos, and it has been very well received by the congregation.

We have had a re-design of the church décor, with new lighting, plants and soft furnishings in the main auditorium, for all this work we have received many compliments by the church congregation and visitors alike.

Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts

Receipts and Payment Accounts

Report to the trustees/members of Life Church Matlock Ltd

Registered Charity Number 1052319

On the accounts for the year ended 31[st] March 2022

Set out on the following pages

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity¹s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
