Life Church Matlock Trustees Report April 2020-2021

Church Officers:

Andrew Robey (Church Pastor / Member / Director / Trustee) Aaron Himsworth (Member / Director / Trustee) Alan Smith (Member / Director / Trustee) Gary Jones (Member / Director / Trustee) Graham Dobson (Member / Director / Trustee) Graham Powell (Member / Director / Trustee)

1. Financial Report:

The Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts has been received.

The report commended our accountant and treasurer for their hard work, and for the well maintained accounts.

2. Buildings Report:

Fire safety systems:

The emergency lighting has been tested and is working correctly.

The fire extinguishers have been checked, and are on good working order.

The leak on main church roof has been repaired, with work carried out to the lead flashing. Many areas of the church have been repainted.

Our building has to operate according to Covid-19 safe working practices.

A ‘hedgehog’ gutter guard has been installed in order to stop the leaves blocking the gutters and causing future problems.

One of the paths down the side of the church has been tarmacked, making this area much safer to use.

3. Life Groups Report

Unfortunately, due to Covid, the Life groups have not been able to meet during this period.

4. Worship Team Report:

The worship team do an amazing job at providing us with worship of an excellent standard, especially considering we are a small rural church.

Again, due to Covid, they have been unable to meet for practices, and our Dwell evenings have been cancelled.

5. Family Fun:

Due to Covid, we have not held any family fun events during this period.

6. General Report:

On Sunday mornings, when we have been allowed to open, we met for worship and the word, with times of teaching. Our regular congregations have still been 30+ people in attendance, even during this very difficult period.

Our young people have been meeting as a group most Sunday mornings, when we have been allowed to open.

We have communion in our sharing service on the first Sunday of each month, where people have the opportunity to share their testimony, bring a word of encouragement or ask for prayer, during an extended time of worship.

The leaders meet at least four times a year, but more often where necessary, to address both the practical running, and the spiritual needs of the Church.

Our regularly prayer meeting on Wednesday mornings, has been cancelled until further notice, due to Covid.

Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts

Receipts and Payment Accounts

Report to the trustees/members of Life Church Matlock Ltd

Registered Charity Number 1052319

On the accounts for the year ended 31[st] March 2021

Set out on the following pages

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity¹s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
