One of the primary purposes of Youth Aid Council is to help prevent or relieve extreme poverty or financial
hardshlpol young people in need.
This is done by providing or asslstlng in the PTovislon of education, training and healthcare projects and
schemes and all necessary support to Individual5.
The support ol Youth Aid Council is deslgned to enable indivlduals lo generate a sustsinable income in order
to be self-sufllcient In thelr communitl88.

Our misslon Is to bring communltie8 together and help bring an end to hunger and poverty in the UK by
providinu compasslonate, practlcal help with dignity whilst challenging inlustice.
To provlde dlsable children famllles wlth as much free service$ as possible. We are the Ilnk between these
famllies and the oroanlsations Instrumental in improving the quality of life for dlsabled children.
Our Goals
Young people can access support in th811 local communlty or online. Young people are motlvated, sell-aware,
recepllve, resilient. responsible, confident and good communicators.
Young people can engage wlth training, volunteering and employment.
We strive for more food for everyone. Put an end to poverty In United Kingdom.
We seek avenues lor as much help as we can provide to the disabled.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Achlevement and performance
Our outdoor activlties apprenticeship continues to be a great success. This year we changed our approach
because ol th8 Cost of living. We run the programme to better integrate it Into tho aGtivitle8 team and
number of our apprentlces who Completed the programme were successfully employed by 21 Business in
permanent roles on completion of their course.
We also hosted seveol work experi8n¢e opportunities, Includlng some students, glvlng young people the
opportunity to shadow staff, develop their employability and Ilfe 3kills, and galn a greater understandino ol
how a national bu8ln855 and charity operates.
Remote leEsons
We work with children and family to support them wlth their educatlon and thelr soclal wellb8ino.
We gulde them so that they can become responsible cltizen and participate positively in their community
when times ar challenging Icost of living).
Food Bank
The Foodbank Inltiative was launched in 2016. The number of people led by Foodbank has greatly Increased
from 958 in 2017, to 6,500 in 2022 because ol the Cost ol Living. The Foodbank also undertook several
supermarket collection5 (Tesco and Cooperatives,- .} In 2022, we collected a total of 46,245kg.in 2023,we
collect 55,258 Kg . FEirther donations trom Supermarkels, FareshaTe$ businesses, indiwduals and charities,
added a further 42.250kg, taking the total for the year to 102,750 kg of lood hampers dlstrlbuted to the
needy In our local venue.
We provide emergency food, seven days a week because of the cost of living , and prati¢al support to help
people cope In a crlsis, as well as glving advice and slgnposting to other agencies able 10 501ve the
longer-term problem.
We are Still hoping to secure funding tor Foodbank because of living ¢ost Grisis. We have in our waiting Ilste
more than 145 hundred young people and famlly who need help because the cost of living.
Homeless
We Started our together Mutual support Group wlth 45 youth and by the end of July, we reached 65 youth.
We delivered 36 sessions, ran weekly meetings and workshops. The sessions helped us to reduce isolations
and we can also see slgns of improved self-confldence.

Care lor the Dlsabled
We provided free se￿[Ce5 to 71 dlsabled children families. We gave onllne advice and uuldance to 65
familles.
After School
We ran a 12 months after-school Course in the boroughs ol Lambeth and Lewlsham. We helped 96 young
people wlth their school homework every Saturday.
Employment Program
Our employment program aSms at helpiny people with their CVS, cover letter, Intervlews and lob experience.
Throughout the year, we were able 10 9et 78 youths into ernployment to help them meet the Cost of Living
Leadership skllls
We run leadership workshop for 7 months, to teach 78 Young people148 from Lambeth Borough and 18
young people southwa￿12 from the L8wlsham Borough) lo become responsible citizens and role models in
their ¢ommunilies.
Youth Sport:
youth Sport project engaged 25 dlsadvantaged youths in activities aimed al empowering them, building up
their self-esteem and teamwork abllilles. We were able to refer tW81ve youth8 to various football teams
where they are currently hoping lor professional levels.
Black Communlty Day
Youth Aid Coun¢il has organised one sesslons ol Health promotion for people in the Black Communlly
Brixton and Lewisham, which was a search for reaction regarding the approaGh to health issues sultsble in
the area (Lambeth Borough and lewlshaml.
Cost of liwng
The manaoemenl team has taken a robust approach to the cost of1Svlng crlsls to ensure our office remain
open lor the young people and family.

As a Irontline provider to some of the most vulnerable young people affected by the impact of the cost of
living crisis, Youth Aid Councll has taken optlmal advantage of a range of new lundlng opportunities available
during the crisis in the form of grants from both statutory and philanthropic lunders, who have
acknowledged the critical role organisations such as Youth Aid Councll have and wlll contlnue to play as the
broader impact ol th8 crisis in the economy becomes clearer. We anllclpale higher demand for our services
over the coming months and years because of the Impact ol the crisis.
Regardlng non-financial risks, the Gharity has robust pollcles and procedures in place. which are revlewed and
updated annually. These are relevant to all our staff and readlly available by way of printed documents held
al each centre and Soft coples held on our server.
The charity's key non-financial risk is the Safety and wellbeing ol those It Is caring for and the slalf. To
mitigate this risk, a comprehensive set ol policies and procedures have been put In place and are included In
the staff handbook glven to all. on lolning Youth Aid Council. These are constantly monitored to ensure that
the safety and wellbeing ol the stafl is upheld. Copies of the handbook are also held by each volunteers and
soft coples are available to the stall and tfustees.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The charity has been able to Secure lunding to enable It to meet its oblecllve5 for at least a year from the
date ol approval of thls report.

PTojetts and to ensure consl$tent quality of servlce lor all operatlonal aspecls of the ¢harltable company.
These procedures are kept under constanl revlew by the management committee to ensure they continue to
meet Ihe needs ol the charity
PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS
In the coming year, Youth Aid Councll will pursue Its activilles, and tonllnue to strive to get more fundlng for
Food Bank, employment program, and disability. We want to have a youth center for youth tralning and fof
Food Bank.
We are hoping to secure funding for thls and trusting that our don0￿ will Gontlnue to support our actlvities.

Expenditure on research and development is wiltten off in the year in whlch il is incurred.

charlty are translated at the rates of exchange prevailing at the end of the reportlno period.
Transactions in ctsrrencles othef than the functional currency ol the charity are recorded at the rate of
exchange on the date thal the transactlon occurred.
All exchange dltlerences are are taken into account in arriving at net Incomelexpenditure.
Leased a8sets
Where the charlty enters into a lease whl¢h entalls takinu substantlally all the risks and rewards of
ownership of an asset, the lease Is treated as a flnance lease.
Leases which do not transfer substantlally all the rlsks and rewar(Is of ownership to charlty are classified
as operating leases.
Assets held under finance leases are Inltlally recognlsed as assets of the charlty at their fair Value al the
inception of the lease or,11 lower, at the present value of the minlmum lease payments. The
corresponding liability to the lessor is Included in the balance she8t date as a finance lease obllgation.
Lease payments are apportioned between Ilnance expenses and reductlon of Ihe lease obligation so as to
achlev8 a constant rate of interest on the rernainlng balance ol the liability. Finance expenses are
recognised immediately, unles$ they are directly attributable to qualilylng assets, In which case they are
apitalised in accordance with the charitls polity on borrowlng tosts.
Assets held under finance leases are depreciated In the same way as owned assets.
Operating lease payments are recognised as an expense on a straight.line basls over the lease term.
In Ihe event that lease Incentives are received to enter into operatlng leases. SUGh incentives are
recoonlsed as a Ilablllty. The aggregate benefit of incentives is recognised as a reductlon ol rental
expense on a straight-line bas1S.
Penslon cost5
The charity operates a dellned Contributlon plan for its employee3. A defined contfibution plan is
pension plan under whlch the charity pays flxed contributlons into a separate entity. Once the
contributions have been pald the charity has no further payments obligations. The contributions are
recognised as expense5 when they fall due. Amounts not paid are shown in aGGruals In the balance sheet.
The assets ol the plan are held separately from the charlty in independently administered funds.
