Advance the education of the general public in the appreciation of the Visual Arts, particular those individuals who see the arts world as alien, unknown and unwelcoming; supporting artists from deprived and unsupported backgrounds by assisting with studio space, professional guidance, encouragement to help them development within the professional arts community and wider social community.

In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit at our trustees meeting.
In furtherance of the Charity’s charitable purposes, ArtsTrail Studios have organized exhibitions in its own gallery in a large footfall shopping centre to give maximum exposure to local artist’s work. Supporting artists to display their artwork in other locations including cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. Artists in resident, for the general public to meet and see work in progress.

We make our space available for non-profit groups for free for their meetings or events. Art workshops open to the public run by member Artists. Taken on students from Warwick University and local schools for training and work experience

Where an artist has an idea for an exhibition that fits into our “objects of the charity” we will support them with reduced cost or no cost to hire the gallery and printing and framing of artwork.

A great contribution is made by our volunteers, we understand that every volunteer is different, we take individuality seriously and celebrate the diverse skills and interests volunteers give us, that’s why we aim to give work that they enjoy doing, learn new skills, fits their personality and make them shine. We have been successfully in attracting volunteers from the large local student community and local schools for work experience.

Section D Achievements and performance
The following is a chronology of ArtsTrail Gallery activity from April 2022 - **Summary of the main** April 2023. This includes art exhibitions from a broad range of artists with **achievements of the charity** a variety of art genres and photographers. Local scenes were often **during the year** featured as well as international scenes and portraiture across the globe including Europe, Africa, India, Asia, South America and Cuba Caribbean. Throughout the year an allocated table area for children’s activity was featured at the gallery with supporting gallery displays to engage children and young people when visiting the gallery. Raised awareness of charities ILEAP – Inclusive Leisure Education Activity Project – Creative & Innovative Opportunities for All. WCAVA – Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action group. MIND - Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf. Wellbeing Warwickshire – Supporting your mental health, has six Wellbeing hub drop-ins across Warwickshire. They are friendly spaces, provide social support in a café type environment. April – June 2022 Artist Showcase An opportunity for Artists of any age, members and non-members ( youngest so far 8 years old ) to display their work in a professional way to the general public. July 2022 Spa-Tography – Janine King Exhibition featuring Janine King’s unique photographs of Warwickshire, from unusual takes on well-known locations to the more obscure. A specially-curated selection of thirty photographs were displayed in the Gallery, with these and more appearing in the book ‘Leamington Spa: Photographs by Janine King’ launched at the exhibition. Janine had technical support and training on Photoshop from Artstrail, to get the best from her images. Art by North Leamington School NLS first public art exhibition in three years following recent lockdowns. The exhibition demonstrated a variety of skills developed by art and photography students from Years 7,8,9 and Sixth Form to showcase their talents. They also created and installation in the Gallery Window themed with coral and marine life sculptures for the public to reflect on the fragile nature of our natural environment. August 2022 The Commonwealth Trail Exhibition. The aim of the Commonwealth Trail project was to produce and curate an exhibition for The Leamington History Group (LHG). This involved collaboration with Warwickshire College Group BTEC Graphic students, who designed the Commonwealth Trail Walk leaflet with support from The Leamington History Group and the University of Warwick History and International Politics Economy department. This coupled with the exhibition curated by ArtsTrail Gallery helped support a creative visual arts context to local history of Leamington Spa, from the wider community

to a cross-generational audience in support of WDC Culture Fest activity and the Commonwealth Games 2022. The exhibition was to serve as being a “fresh” voice to the Commonwealth History of Leamington Spa through a full comprehensive visual narrative. The exhibition inspired the 239 page book “Global Leamington – A Brief History” in which ArtsTrail and one of our artists was commissioned to create the avant-garde cover.
September 2022
Tubby Goldcrest with Friends Keith Burtonwood a former teacher now a professional landscape photographer and keen wildlife photographer who has perfected the art of using technology. “ for me, the iPad started out as a bit of fun but I soon realised it’s potential as a way of using many of my images captured over many years. In the early days the software available for use with the iPad was limited but now more sophisticated your imagination is the limit. My belief is that the best way to approach the digital medium is to familiarise yourself with the tools, brushes and colour palettes at your disposal, be free and experiment! You will get better over time” The unique exhibition was composed of wildlife art drawn on the iPad.
October 2022 A Happy Tale – Neil Catley & Alan Grantham
The exhibition shared their story of how they overcame emotional and mental health barriers through their art and photography. It help raise awareness of mental health, encourage wellbeing in the wider community and development of local artists to overcome their barriers to health through art and benefit their careers. The exhibition not only benefited artists, volunteers but also had an impact in the wider community. The project benefited other charities and organisations raising awareness band fundraising in support of health and wellbeing.
November 2022 - April 2023 “Winter Atelier” - Members and non-members The annual Members Exhibition titled “Winter Atelier”. This exhibition featured member’s art works where each member could display up to x3 pieces each. This was to give an inclusive opportunity to all members to display their creative works and receive some public exposure especially during the busy festive season with a chance to sell art works. Nonmembers were also encouraged to participate in the exhibition as newsletters were sent out to all local artist who have express an interest.
