Advance the education of the general public in the appreciation of the Visual Arts, particular those individuals who see the arts world as alien, unknown and unwelcoming; supporting artists from deprived and unsupported backgrounds by assisting with studio space, professional guidance, encouragement to help them development within the professional arts community and wider social community.

In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit at our trustees meeting.
In furtherance of the Charity’s charitable purposes, ArtsTrail Studios have organized exhibitions in its own gallery in a large footfall shopping centre to give maximum exposure to local artist’s work. Supporting artists to display their artwork in other locations including cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. Artists in resident, for the general public to meet and see work in progress.

We make our space available for non-profit groups for free for their meetings or events. Art workshops open to the public run by member Artists. Taken on students from Warwick University and local schools for training and work experience

Where an artist has an idea for an exhibition that fits into our “objects of the charity” we will support them with reduced cost or no cost to hire the gallery and printing and framing of artwork.

A great contribution is made by our volunteers, we understand that every volunteer is different, we take individuality seriously and celebrate the diverse skills and interests volunteers give us, that’s why we aim to give work that they enjoy doing, learn new skills, fits their personality and make them shine. We have been successfully in attracting volunteers from the large local student community and local schools for work experience.

Section D Achievements and performance
## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**
The following is a chronology of ArtsTrail Gallery activity from April 2021 - April 2022. This includes art exhibitions from a broad range of artists with a variety of art genres and photographers. Local scenes were often featured as well as international scenes and portraiture across the globe including Europe, Africa, India, Asia, South America and Cuba Caribbean. Throughout the year an allocated table area for children’s activity was featured at the gallery with supporting gallery displays to engage children and young people when visiting the gallery. Charities and community was supported including The Brain Tumour Charity, The Young Farmers Association, families with disabilities in Cuba and raising awareness and support for the NHS.
## July 2021- August 2021
“Wish You Were Here?” exhibition featuring the photography and digital art of local photographer and artist Hilary Roberts. During this time some travel restrictions were partially in place and the gallery themed a Staycation of British classic seaside holiday nostalgia eclipsed Punch and Judy themed displays with umbrella resonated with the general public. This exhibition was well received with 1649 visitors. This gave the gallery a much needed boost following lockdown and encouraged community engagement as the general public were reconnected with Leamington and Warwickshire locations through Hilary’s exquisite photography.
Hilary shared her international photography featuring imagery taken not only locally within the UK but also Europe, India and Cuba Caribbean, making the exhibition an international experience to be shared by all. Hilary was also available at the gallery and many visitors were able to meet the artist and ask questions about the art pieces. Her work also helped raise money for charity where a significant percentage of sales from proceeds went toward helping a disabled child called Eddie and their family in Cuba.
## August 2021 - September 2021
“Colour, Meditation, Vibration” exhibition featuring the abstract original works of local artist Russell Gain. His work resonated well with the general public striking warm tones of relaxation, calm, inspiring reflective thought with the general public, following a year of isolation and lockdown. Presenting abstract art served as a contrast to the style of art realism from Hilary’s exclusive photography exhibition and providing an educational resource as an introduction to abstract expressionism through gallery descriptions and an exclusive opportunity to meet the artist at the gallery in person throughout the exhibition duration. This exhibition attracted altogether 722 visitors.
## September 2021 - October 2021
“Art in the Farmyard” featuring the digital photography of Lee Atherton who produced a series of work during lockdown 2020 featuring animal portraits with a personality and character of their own. The exhibition aimed to support the local environment, raise awareness of wildlife and The Young Farmers Association which provides invaluable work experience for those with an interest in farming as a career. The retail display window featured a mini farm scene with large bales of hay and animal sculptures by local artist Thor. The exhibition also raised funds for Lee’s chosen charity The Brain Tumour Charity through his specially designed gift card and via a collection box based at the gallery. The exhibition received with 747 visitors.
## October 2021 - November 2021
Beth Watkins, a local graphic designer and artist based in Coventry, demonstrated her live watercolour painting skills at ArtsTrail Gallery as a means to encourage the general public to engage in art. Her exhibition titled “Waterways” featuring artworks produced during lockdown 2020 which included portraits of local peoples, landscapes and water scenes within the UK and abroad in Europe, India, and the African continent.

The general public were able to meet and speak with Beth at the gallery whilst producing live artworks. Young people were able to engage and paint alongside Beth at the gallery and be inspired with their personal artistic development of water colour painting skill and technique and encouraged to have their work posted to the ArtsTrail website news pages.
Altogether “Waterways” received 1190 visitors and was warmly received as many positive comments were made about Beth’s work in the visitors book. The window display was themed around an arts studio scene to reflect the live art demonstrations.
November 2021 - January 2022
ArtsTrail Gallery was able for the first time since lockdown to present the annual Members Exhibition titled “Winter Atelier”. This exhibition featured member’s art works where each member could display up to x3 pieces each. This was to give an inclusive opportunity to all members the opportunity to display their creative works and receive some public exposure especially during the busy festive season with a chance to sell art works. Non-members were also encouraged to participate in the exhibition as newsletters were sent out to those with expression of interest. The retail display window featured a traditional winter themed art studio as a follow-up from previous month’s Waterways exhibition which helped to draw attention and reflect the process and environment of creative art. The exhibition received with 2908 visitors.
## January 2022 - March 2022
## “Staycation - Colour, Water and Light”
The spring season featured the exquisite expressionistic art works of Leanne Simmons, a local artist who, an accountant by trade, is passionate about art and presented a variety of landscape, seascape art works were warmly received by the general public. Her exhibition was supported by a private launch , funded by the artist, on a Sunday afternoon at the gallery which was attended by Leanne’s friends, family and local visitors of various ages and backgrounds. Leanne was inspired to do much painting during lockdown 2020 and developed her unique expressionistic painting skills which culminated in to a gallery full of her poetic colourful artworks. Her exhibition was most popular with the general public and ArtsTrail extended it for a few more weeks to March 2022. The Gallery window reflected a minimalist mirrored water scenery to compliment the beauty and simplicity of Leanne’s art work. Many positive comments were received at the gallery regarding the exhibition and served as a platform supporting Leanne’s artistic career. This exhibition attracted altogether 1793 visitors.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of ArtsTrail Studios (the Charity) for the year ended 31 March 2022.
## Responsibilities and basis of report
As the trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act')
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act: or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirements that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
