The main activrti8s that te ￿a¢e a￿ a¢tvity￿ that our servke users partake in whlch are leaming gardening skills, wooowork skills. machine maintenance skills and independent living skills, which incorporates rAoking skills. Some of these actNities then beftefft the public by offering a lotsl venue to pur¢ha$e plants, vegetables. and handmade wocthork products al a low price. A lot of projects and activities have been hind8red this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a po￿On of funding ￿￿4Ved that is identsfied in the accounts are t￿Sed on COVID-19 related projects. The tTUSteès have paid regard to th8 guidance ￿Suad by the Chanty Commission on public beneffit and what activities the ¢harity should undertake. All the staff at COGS Prepares 4 Lffe CIO aro pem)anent volunteers and work ￿rele$Sty wlth the 88Nice users lo ensure adivities are varied, educational and help foThward their needs. We have also taken on tsvo temporary volunteers this year who have adapted very well to the 8nvironment and have helped bolster the support we can give to the seTh￿ users. All volunteers have also contributed tremendousty towards fund raising by promoting the wcJucts the ¢harity sells to the general publlc, desplte many drfr￿ul1tes caused by the COVID-19 pandem￿ and subsequent lo¢kdoNns and restrictions. Achievemen an Performance At the start ofthe year the service users successfulty dism8ntred an obj and wom vwble bed and Teplaced it with more durab￿ vegetable beds intended for use in the Accessible Grow Cook Eat Project to grow a wider Val￿ of seasonal vegetsbles for the users to use throughout the yoar in their ¢ooking activities. The krtchen Iloor was also re￿ to benefit the cooking area, making st a better place for the service users to work. Ho•￿er, this year saw very dithjlt condrtions for the charity as rt had to suS￿nd nHny activitles due to the COVID-19 pandemic whth resuW in lockdowns and partbal ¢tosure to the service users between March 2020 and Juty 2020. Dunng thts time, the volunteers successfulty kept all the plants and prcKluce alNe during a swettering summer, offering Iclal residents a local OUt￿t for buying plants when all retail garden centres were dosed. One achievement was r￿1VIng funding that allowed the Charity to offer an outreach service to our b8rseficiaries which invofved a 24tT helpline. medicalion runs and shoppiThJ trips for those families who were not rnb1￿. hen the se￿ice users returned, they achieved expanding the current fruit cage to double its Size to allow for a wider variety of fruit to be grcvm which wll expand their knowkdge of growing produce, incorporatsng the produ¢e into the Accessib￿ Grow Cook Eat project as well as giving the public a wider variety to pur¢hase which helps with fundraI￿n9. The Paint and Repair fvnding enabled the whole of the cabin to be painted in specrdlised covering which will protect the Structu￿ from all weather in the future. Financial R•vi•w The charity has had a difficult year but due to specthc funding and ¢ontinu8d fUndra￿Ing when and where po86ible we have maintained an average financial wsition * the end of the p8riod. The Charity ha$ aknys aimed to hold a reserve of 3 months expenditure in unrestrcted funds which would allow il to o)ntinue current activrties while ¢onsiderats'on is given to ways in which additional funds ¢ouKI be raised.
