Section D Achievements and performance

2023 was a positive year of helping people and achieving our objectives. **Summary of the main achievements of the charity** Donations have seen a 165% increase (2022: 59% decrease) on 2022 to **during the year** a total of £164180 (2022: £61961), though it is worth noting the bulk of this was a one-off donation of £100,000, for which we are exceedingly grateful. With this removed, we have seen a material increase of 4% in donations. In accordance with our direct help model, we have paid out the majority of this year’s donations, £132109, directly to people in need. The members and trustees have dealt with over 2500 cases (2022: 700) for cash and practical help, and have been able to help the majority of these in a direct and positive manner. It is a testament to the dedication and strength of our members that we can engage with this many cases, and the trustees would like to acknowledge those members and employees in particular who help deal with referral emails, as this is a very time consuming and emotionally draining task. Feedback from clients and referrers is consistently positive and we include a sample: “ Just wanted to say a huge thank you for my Payment of 50.00 pounds today. It will go a long way. Thank you so much. I have been to Aldi and got almost a week’s shopping and essentials. Thanks to you I can now feed my children some nice meals and a couple of sweet treats and was able to top up my electric meter. Thank you so much for your grace and kindness. I will not forget the support I have received. “ “ Thank you so much – I feel like this support at a time of need really helps emphasise all the good in the world at a time when this lady is struggling. And it will make a difference to the kids too.” “I spoke to the client yesterday and he was extremely grateful for the financial support. When I told him about the £50 he sobbed. He told me £50 is like £50,000 to his family at the moment and called us all angels and said he was thankful there were still kind people in the world. I just wanted to feed this back to you as it really touched me yesterday. Would you please feed this back to the team & funder? The work you’re doing is really making a difference.”
