Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The main purpose of our activities is to
represent the views of post-16 mathematics
education in the United Kingdom. This is done
by belonging to mathematical bodies where
our voice can be heard, and by responding
directly to government consultations. We have
continued as members of the Meeting of
Mathematical Subject Associations and have a
representative on the Joint Mathematical
Council.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit; in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
In addition, the charity provides CPD events
which are tailored to the requirements of
individuals and organisations. The number of
events provided by NANAMIC this year has
been small, as many free events, often run by
NANAMIC trustees, have been provided by the
Education and TrainingFoundation.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 In planning our activities at our trustee
meetings, we have kept in mind the Charity
Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference

achievements of the charity,

charity’s work has made to

beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we were
unable to hold a conference in 2020-21. We
had planned a joint one with the Mathematical
Association, but this had to be cancelled.
However, we hosted a webinar about an
alternative GCSE Mathematics curriculum
proposed by Mathematics in Education and
Industry (MEI).
Throughout this period, we continued to
respond to appropriate consultations as
individuals, as an association or as members of
the Meeting of Mathematical Subject
Associations or the Joint Mathematical Council.
