The t￿SteeS advanced our purpose 10 conserve the Burralor eslate with conservation and improvement schemes
including the resioraiion of boundaries and management of conservalion grdzing across the esiaie. Toward the
end of the period. under a projeci funded by the Fanning in Protecled Landscapes scheme administered b!. Ihe
Dartmoor Naiional Park.. the chariry successfully restored a historic feature of the esiaie by plantino a new
traditional orchard and restored the historic stone gaieThay inio ihai paddock. Although the Gol'ernrnent
unexpectedly closed the Country'side Siewardship capital grants scheme in November ?0?4. there remained
works ￿'hICh could usefull). be compleied under the old scheme. and effort5 are underway io close those oui
before the nem. scheme is launched.
Much of Ihe focus of ihe charit) s M￿lee5 remain¢d on investioating wavs io make the estaie susiainable in the
long term due to continuin
high overheads including inieresi charges. Since ihe lasi report. Ihe trustees have
deliberaied carefull}" on ways to ensure long term sustainability. of the es￿le and 10 relain it such thai the
charity s objects can continue lo be achieved. This has involved a careful review of the charity's assets and a
strategic look al the optimum means of advancing our objects with the resources available. The charity
continues to benefit from the support (both financially and in the fo￿ of artefacts} of Brooke and SarawaL-ian
history enihusiasis including an ini'aluable collection of books and papers from Professor Emeriius Robert
Reece, and chairs daiints back to Rajah Charles Brooke's reign. kindly donaied b), the Morris family.

After the reporting date, the charitk rnised funds sufficient to full%, repav the ouistanding mortgage with Charity
Bxnk. This was achieved through the eompleiion of a leasehold sale of part of the BUrra￿r Estate. The
leaseholder h&5 2greed to alloiv ihe charilv conliTrued access to the leasehold areas.
Tlie irdnsaction occurred after the financial vtar end. The proceeds have maieriallv Stren￿htned ihe chariti s
financial position. The arrdneement has also enabled the charilv to deliver a public open gardens eveni in .Klay
2025. to progress plans for museum development and enhanced public access io the propen). and grounds.
Future plan5
The trustees will continue to finali4e plans to reduce overhead5 thile business planning with particular regard to
advancints education through PLSblic access to the gardens at Burrator estale and a museum exhibition io be
installed in Ihe main house. The exhibition is being designed to educate the public on ihe unique history of the
Brooke era.

The trustees consider ihat there are no maierial uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as a going
