## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document:** 

The relief of financial hardship, either generally or individually, of people living, and charitable organisations, in Sunningdale and the surrounding area by making grants of money for providing or paying for items, services or facilities which they could otherwise not afford through lack of means. 

## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects:** 

In planning our activities for the year, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings. 

The focus of our activities remains involvement of the community in a wide range of activities that are of benefit in terms of life experience to them individually and collectively and through those activities to raise funds to support those in need in the local community. 

## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information):** 

A great contribution to the success of the events run by the charity is made by the participants who are drawn widely from our local community. We are grateful for the many hours that have been spent these supporters in planning, organising and managing our events and for sharing their expertise with and thereby enriching the experience of the participants. 

## **Achievements and performance** 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year:** 

The main achievements of the charity in 2021 were: 

- i) continuing to grow recurring donations income through the Hundred Club to a level now approaching nine thousand pounds per annum 

- ii) supporting the local schools with ‘laptops for homeworking’ initiative during the Covid outbreak, approaching fifteen thousand pounds by coordinating with other local charities and receiving donated sums for the purchase and distribution of these 86 laptops. 

- iii) 191 grants made to individuals, totalling nearly thirty-two thousand pounds and 91% of our total giving. 

## **Financial review** 

## **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves:** 

The Trustees operate a policy of maintaining general reserves at a minimum of £3,000 to ensure that funds are always available for unforeseen expenses, initial expenses in respect of fundraising events or small and urgent donations to the needy. Reserves in excess of £3,000 are held available as deemed appropriate by the Trustees for grants and donations consistent with the objects of the charity.

## **Further financial review details (Optional information):** 

Our main source of funds this year has been from the two initiatives described above in the section “Achievements and performance” and in total the charity received income of £28,722 during the year. 

Expenses amounted to £35,168 being grants of £35,168 and zero expenses were debited to Unrestricted Funds. 

At the year end the Charity held Reserves of £9,806, of which £2,141 was held in Unrestricted Funds. 

## **Other optional information** 

## **Future plans:** 

The Trustees are planning several small events in 2022 both to raise funds for and increase awareness of the Charity. Additionally, the charity intends to continue to encourage regular giving from committed supporters. 

## **Public benefit:** 

The Charity Trustees believe that they have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Commission.

Huge effort to get laptops for children being home-schooled during covid. Over 150 laptops provided within the local community 

Hope Trust spearheaded the community effort with donations received from Fire Brigade Fund, Sunninghill Parish Council and Sunninghill Fuel Trust, 

Total income our highest ever since launch and matched by record grants paid out. 

Events entry was the delayed receipts from the Opera Piccolino Christmas Concert Over 250 grants paid out this financial year, enlisting the support of schools and Georgie Tindall for distribution 



Vast majority of grants made to individuals (191) rather than organisations (63) Deliberate efforts made to reduce bank balance and get the funds to work. A further £6K passed on into the community from reserves. Gift Aid claimed and a full report is required for the Charities Commission submission for this period.

## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of The Sunningdale Hope Trust** 

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Sunningdale Hope Trust (the Trust) for the year ended 31 December 2021. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner’s statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
