CHW supports children and young people in developing parts of the
world, through giving grants to partner organisations, which work with
children and young people every day. Grants are given to projects which
relieve financial hardship, advance education. relieve sickness and
promote goc*J health and offer recreational activities which develop the
children's and young people's skills and capabilits'es.

Throughout this year, CHW raised funds to be able to give grants to our
partner organisations in Argentina, Ghana, China, Romania and South
Africa.
This induded funding for the provision of food, care, dothing, medical
treatment and therapies, educational materials, tuition fees, support for
care staff and teachers, assistance with water and electricity provision for
a school and shelter, and other resources and equipment for projects
conceming education.
Our partner organisations around the world continue to face the
challenge of rising cosls and the support from CHW is greatly
appreciated.

The Trustees met every three months. via video conferenong, to review
requests. updates and feedback from the reapient organisations and are
satisfied that CHW'S grants bring benefits to poor and vulnerable children
and young people in developing parts of the world. The Trustees have
had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission, including
the guidance on public benefit and on charities working internationally.

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
The following grants were given during this year.
Fundacion Cordobesa de Equinoterapia. Argentina: Sponsorship of ten
months of horse-assisted therapy sessions for an eight-year-old boy, who
has Down Syndrome: £775.
Mana Preschool, South Africa: Printer for educational needs, such as
worksheets: £543.25.
Manos Abiertas. Argentina: Help towards sponsoring a caregiver and
medical professionals. to work with babies and children. aged O to 5. who
have been removed from their families due to abuse or neglect, and who
are staying at Manos Abiertas's residential centre. Two instalments were
sent and the total given was: £1882.
New Life Intemational, Ghana: Assistance with an electricity bill for the
centre and school.. £349.57.
New Life Intemational. Ghana: Assistance with a water bill for the centre
and school: £314.68.
New Life Intemational, Ghana: Food and supplies for a Christmas party
held for 100 children from New Life's home and from the surrounding
villages: £337.05.
New Life Intemational. Ghana: Tuition fees. accommodation and school
supplies for a High School student at boarding school.. £288.96.
New Life Intemational, Ghana: Tuition fees and basic supplies for a
university student taking a Bachelorfs degree in Education. Two
instalments were sent and the total given was: £913.61.
New Life Intemational. Ghana: Tuition fees and basic supplies for a
student at nursing college. Two instalments were sent and the total given
was: £1251.67.
New Life Intemational, Ghana: Basic supplies and a laptop for student
tsking a degree in Fashion Design. Two instalments were sent and the
total given was: £611.97.
New Life Intemational. Ghana: Tuition fees and basic supplies for a
university student taking a degree in Construction Technology and
Management: £414.25.
New Life Intemational, Ghana: Tuition fees and basic supplies for a
university student taking a degree in Hospitality Management: £417.30.
ORT SA CAPE, South Africa: Sponsoring literacy and science trainings
for teachers in under-resourced communities in Cape Town and the
surrounding areas. Instalments were sent throughout the year and the
total given was: £4868.25.
Refugiu, Romania: Sponsoring school supplies (such as books and
stationery), and clothes and shoes for 12 children and teenagers at the
stsrt of the school year: £1182.86.
Refugiu, Romania: Winter coats and boots for 12 children and teenagers:
£762.29.

Achievements and perfomiance
Rooikappie Preschool Centre. South Africa: Assistance with a washing
machine for use at the creche: £156.52.
Stepping Stones, China: Sponsoring teaching materials for educational
programmes run for Migrant children in Shanghai and also for children in
rural areas. Three instalments were sent throughout the year and the
total given was: £2172.
The Future Factory. South Africa: Sponsorship of food for a programme
serving families in under-resourced areas of Cape Town. This initiative
was started in response to the pandemic and lockdowns. Assistance
continues to be needed as food prices have risen. Instalments Were sent
throughout the year and the total given was: £1710.
The Future Factory. South Africa: Assistance wtth residential costs for a
university student taking a Batchelor of Commerce degree in Finance
and Economics: Two instalments were sent and the total given was:
£1429.07.
The following ongoing grants were given:
New Life Intemational. Ghana: Sponsorship scheme. supporting food and
educational costs for children and young people. Instalments were sent
throughout the year and the tolal given was: £5293.32.
Refugiu, Romania: Sponsorship of food and essential supplies for
families in the villages of Tarlungeni and Halchiu. The total given was:
£610.

Financial review
CHW aims to keep in reserve sufficient funding for the charity to continue
running for at least six months, in the case of no further unrestricted
income being received. This covers the monthly bank charge. as well as
sufficient funding to pay the bank fees to transfer any restricted funding to
the recipient projects.
Brlef statement of the
charlty's pollcy on reserves
It should be noted we received a generous grant, of £14.588.27, dose to
the end of our financial year. This funding is unrestricted. It could appear
that our reserves are much higher than in previous years. However, this
is simply due to the timing of receiving the grant. The expenditure of the
funds from this grant is expected to tske place in the following financial
ear
2024-25 .
