– – st Finance Report The Parish of Bury Roch Valley Year ending 31 December 2020
I have continued as treasurer of Bury Roch Valley during 2020. The accounts for both churches are shown within this report alongside a summary of the accounts for the whole parish.
I can confirm that the parish share has been paid in full for 2020 and that the accounts have been independently examined as per the requirements of the Charity Commission.
2020 has been a challenging year financially for the Parish with the Covid Pandemic and shielding of our most vulnerable having a huge impact on the overall giving for both churches. Congregation numbers are the lowest we have seen at Sunday worship with both churches having been closed for a number of months during the year. Our overall funds have also been impacted by the inability to rent our church space to external groups. We have also been unable to raise crucial funds through our fundraising events, namely Summer and Christmas fairs
End of year balances are as follows:
St Thomas:
Current account £156276.06 Match Funding £13328.75 Interior £604.44 Savings £5014.89 Total Balances £175224.14
An overall deficit of income vs expenditure was seen during 2020 of £13,687.
St Peters:
Current account £4565.28 Savings £5567.14 Youth account £747.64 Organ restoration £581.04 Total balances £11461.10
An overall deficit of income vs expenditure was seen during 2020 of £8929. Work has been carried out at the back of church to remove the pews, opening up the space and relocating the radiators (this was planned and accounted for before the start of the year)
Total balances for Bury Roch Valley carried forward to start of 2020 equate to £186685.24
During the year, to support the Parish, a number of the congregation have switched from envelope and plate giving to regular giving by standing order. I have also received a number of donations from individuals. I am incredibly grateful to everyone for their continued support which will help us to continue the work of both churches across the Parish when we are finally able to reopen properly following the Government guidelines.
If you do not currently give regularly by standing order or envelope and would like to please ask me or Harvie for details. Equally if you are a tax payer and do not currently subscribe to gift aid please let me know as the church receives a further 25p for each £1 given, at no cost to yourself.
‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly, or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver’
