are also directors of Wortley Rugby Union Football Club Limited for the purposes of company law and who
served during the year and up to the dale of this report arc set out on page I

The club is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated on 8 November 2011. The cornpany was established
under Articles of Association which establish the objects and powers of the company. In the event of the company
being wound up the members arc required to contribute an amount not exceedin8 £ l. The club was granted
charitable status on 16 October 2013.
The trustees fonn the Inanagemenl committee and liave delegated the ruiining of the club to the executive
coininitlee, wl)ich consists of the officers of the club who are elected annually.
The club was fonn¢d to take over the operations of Wortley RUFC, an uninco￿orated association which has beeii
a rugby club iii South Yorkshire fonned iii 2003 aiid playing regularly against local teains ever since.
Trustees
Al I Iiustees give their time voluntarily aiid receive iio benefit from the club. The existing tru,%tees are responsible
for the recruitment and traiiiing of new trustees.

The trustees have assessed the risks the club faces, considering both the likelihood of those risk5 and measures
takeii to manage them. Insurance is in place and finances aic kept under review.
Objectives and activities
The charitable objects al'e as fol lows:
to promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for playing rugby union
football and other sports (facilities means land, buildinES, equipment and organising sporting activities);
to provide and assist in providing facilitie5 foT sport, recreation or otheT leisure time occupation of such
persons who have need for such facilities by reason of their youtli, age, infinnity or disablement, poverty
or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with
tlie object of improving their corjditions of life. and
to advance the education of children and young people through such means as the directors think fit in
accordance with the law of charity.

The directoi's confirm that they have, when and where necessary lo do so. paid regard to the Charity Commission's
Guidance on Public Benefit when considering and making decisions.

This is now my ninth year in writing the review of the magnificent Wortley Rugby Union Football Club. How
fantastic has it been to see so much activity being played on our hallowed ground 6the great green turf of
Wortley,.
I think that a sp¢¢ial mention is needed for Lec Marsh and his team on recovering and Iransfonning the pitche,% to
standard they are now at. W¢ have an ongokng commÉtm¢nt to th¢ continuous improvem¢nt of facilities with thc
action of the club members, who sU￿ender time, effort and enthusiasm to drive Wortley Rugby Club to bigger and
better places.
If I could ask one thing of the anyone who reads this docuinent, may it be that you become one of these great
supporters who work tirelessly in order to sustain the growth the Club aiid to make it flourish. As the curtaiii falls
on Wortley's 20th Rugby Union season, it marks a milestone for a club that has flourished across all fronts.
Fi-om the vibrant ininis (U6s) to the seasoned senior men and wom¢n's teams, growth has been the defining theme.
Throughout, our juntors have blossomed, not just in rugby prow¢5s, but in confidence and character, enibodying
the core values of Teainwork, Respect, Eiijoyinent, Discipline, and Sportsmanship at every turn.
The men's season culminated in a spirited friendly match against local rivals, Sheffield Oaks. The clash was a
tcstament to fF¢rce competition, brimming with thunderous tackles and powerful runs, serving as a thrilling
conclusion to the season.
Now, WoTtley eagerly prepaTes io ascend to the Yorkshire 4 league, embracing the challenge that lies ahead.

Statement of trustees, responsibilities
The trustees (who are also directors of Wortley Rugby Union Football Club Limited for the purpose of company
law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Annual Report and the financial statenients in accordance with
applicable law and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.
Company law requires the tnistees to prepare financial statements for each financ2al year which give a truL and
faÉr view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of the incoming resources and application of
resources, including the income and expenditute, of the charitable company for ibat period. In preparÉng thesc
financial statem¢nts, the trustees are required to..
select suitable accounting polÉcies and then apply them consistentlys
observe the metliods and principles in the Charities SORP;
- make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent:
- Stale whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have b¢en fol lowed, subject to any material
departurcs disclosed and explained in the financial statements. and

I report on the accounts of WoAley Rugby Union Football Club Limited for the year ended 31" May 2024 set out
on pages 3 to 14.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and independent examlner
The trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the
prepar(Ition of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not requtred lor this year under section 144(2)
of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent
exaniination, it is my responsibility to:
exainine the accounts under sectioii 14-5 of the 2011 Act.,
to follow the procedures laid dowii in tlie general Directions given by the Charity Commission under
section I1-5(5Xb) of the 2011 Act; and
to state whether particular inatters have come to n1y attention.
Basis of independent examlners statement
y examination was carried out iii accordance with the General Directions given by the ChaTTty Commission. An
examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparisoji of the accounts
presented with those Tecords. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts,
and seeking explaT)ations from you as trustees concerning any such tnatters. The Procedures undertaken do not
provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the
accounts present a 'true and fair view, aiid the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention..
(i) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material Tespect the requirements:
lo keep proper accounting records in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006; and
to prepare accounts which accord witli the accounting records, comply with the accounting requirements

I. ACCOUNTIING POLICIES
The Principal accounting policies are summarised below, The accounting policies have been applied
consistently throughout the year and the preceding period.

The financial statements arc prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard 102 Section IA for Stnaller Entitics, the Statement of Rc¢ommended Practicc
Accounting and Reporttng by Charities issued in March 2005 (SORP 2005) and the Companies Act 2006.
Incomin
Resources
All incoming resources arc included in the stateineiit of financial activities when the charity is entitled to the
iiicome and the amount can be quantifIed with r¢asonabl¢ accuracy. The following specific policies ar¢
applied to particular categories of income..
Voluiitary income is received by way of grants, donations and gifts and is included in full in the statement or
financial activities when receivable. Grant5 where entitleinenl is not coiiditional on tbe delivery of a 5pecitic
perfonnance by the charity, are recognised when the charity becomes uiiconditionally entitled to the graiil.
Donated services and facilitles are included at th¢ value to the charity where this can be quantified. The value
of services provided by voluiiteers has not been included. Income frorn the sale of kit is includ¢d in the year in
which il is receivable.

ended
Expenditure ts recowised on an accrual basis as a liability is incuFred. Expenditure includes any VAT wliich
cannot be fully recoveTed, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates.
Costs of generating funds comprise the costs associated with attracting voluntary income and the costs ot"
trading for fundraising purposes including the sale of kit.
Charitable expeiiditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities aiid
s¢rvic¢s for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be a15ocaled directly to such activities and those
costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them. Governance costs include thos¢ costs associated with
meeting the statutory requirements of tlie charity.
Stock
Stock is valued at the lower of cost and net realisable vaEue.
