CACFO is in its 32Dd yrar sincc IKing sct up in 1993. It became an unincorporated charity. governed by a
constitution on 4 October 1994 (amended 20 June 1995). It later became a Charitable IncorpoTated
Organtsation governed by a &)nstitution with voting member5 other than charity tru5tec5 on 30 May 2014 in
order to lirnii liabilities. At the same timfy there was & fornial narnc change to 'CACFO UIC, the shorter
ndme, 'CACFO'. continues in day-tO-d8y use.
Objective prineipal aetivitl¢s of the charity
CACFO'S coilstilutional objectives are 'to promote Ihe benefit of. in particular biit not exclusively) African and
African Caribbean descendants in the bDrough of Croydon without distinction of age. sex, race, political OT
religious or other opinions, by associating the lod authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabilants in a
ommon effort to provid¢ facilities in Ihe interesls of social welfare, education OT recreation and leisu￿ tiine
occupation for the benefits of the residents of Croydon,.

Developmen¢ getivltlU and achievements for the year
The Manage]nent Committee continued lo pursue CAFCO:s objectives and mi&sion primarily through
successfully running oiir Aduli. Day Centr4 summer school, and community c£ntre.
Our Aduli Day Centre re]￿aIned open 9 10 4, five day5 a week providing our five-fold programme of activities
linked to eld¢r3 maintaining their independenc4 dignity and self-respecl:
(i).
group exercises to stimiilate the mind, e.g. arts & crdft classes, regular quiz, reminiscing and Inernory
sessions.
(ii). group exercises to help physical fitness and promote h¢althy lifcstyl¢s. c.g. seatd exercise ¢lass¢s - plus
professional talks, ¢.g. by the Alzheimer's Society. etc
(iii). group rccre8tion&l activities. e.g. bingo, day trips, etc
(iv). nutritious m¢als: culturally and dietsry sensitive lunches prepared on-slte by our chef.

advice and signposting to 8ervices and professional help, e.g. to Croydon's Adult Health and Social Care
Services, the Government',s Windrush Compensation Schcme.

Through this programme of activilies, we have been particularly successful at reducing the feeling of isolation
and loneline&s ainong elders, and. iii soine cases. have provided elders with their only hot mea] of the day.
Our twice weekly seatsd exeTcise Classes and weekly 'Music, Memory and Movement, sessions run
for us by KORA rcmained very popular with elders. Elders converse at them, reminisce. laugh. and
dance. They forni new friendship groups and feel energised.
CACFO would like to thank Ziirich Comrnunity Tn￿t {zcr) for its financial sponsorship during 2024125 - and
Zurich's local staff for volunteering to do prujects at CACFO under 7cr's Summer Challenges and Winl'cr
Challenges. This financial help was vital to the viability of CACFO'S Music, Mcmory and Movement, scssionq
and keeping CACFQ'S MirLibus Service runnin& following its r¢intriKluction after Shutdown during Covid.
We a180 thank Croydon 60+ Benevolent Fund Ltd for its financial donation to this work and staff at Croydon
Primark. Primark's staff also donated practical Christmas gifts for CACFO'S eldws, whether bought themselves
or collected from custonier5 at a cliarity display they placed, supportcd by manageinent, front of sto
CACFO would also like to thank the Windrush Justice Programme for ils sponsorship of our Windrush
Compensation Surgeries, run with Mandala Community Services, to help local cldcrs and others affected by
the ongoing Windru¥h Scanthl. We warnily acknowledge a donation from Wandsworth National Education
Union whose members were touche41 by this vital communTty work, and 2180 wanted to contribute tTr it.
CACFO held a wonderful Windrush 75 celebration on 22 June 2024 with spDn50r51iip from The Albert Hunt
Trust. This well attended event broiight together Wiiidrush charities troTll Across Cr(Jydon. and would hav¢ rnade
respective Windrush g¢nerdtion foundcTS proud. Held in CACFO'5 Windnish Gardgn, with its theme of 'Our
Pioneers, Our Heroes, Our Contriblltion,, Croydon w1ndn￿h elders, their dc5cendants and others came
together at this milestune date to celebrate the contribiition th8t tkey and other Caribbean men and women have
mad4 and contTnue to make. to Britian's wellbeing.
CACFO. as ever, ran & Summtr School. Unfortunately. this was smaller than usual as absence of Local
Council funding for our charity in 2024 meant charging for student places.
CACFO'S Domino Club remained active thtY)ughout 2024125 Ineeting three evening5 per week and proving &n
ever-popular draw for the local community.
Th¢ Manag¢m¢nt Coinmittee is gratsful to CACI;O's team of volunteers who gave senerously of ih¢ir time in
support of our small team of regular slaff.
Finally, we extend our warmest thanks to CACF(Ys elderly members who attended our Adult Day Centre In
2024/25 and together wlth the Day centre's team derlved so much and gave so much back In return maklng
the Committee's role worthwhlle,

system& will provide sufficiefit resources in the event of adverse cfjnditions. The trustees have also examined
other op¢rntional and busin￿8 risks faced by the charity and ¢onfinn that they have estsblished systenL8 to

Th¢ law requires us the managem¢nt coinmitte¢ to prepare the financial statements foi. each year which give
true and fair view of the state of affairs of the organisation and of its surplus and deficit for that period. In
preparing thc financial statements we &e required to:

select suitable accounting poli¢ies and apply them consistently through the years
(b)
make judgcm¢nts and &qtimate3 that are reasonable and prudent
(c)
state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures Ihat
should bc disclosed and explained in the finhncial stat¢m¢nts.
(d) prepare the financial statcments on the going concern basis unkss it 15 inappropriate to presume thal the
organisation will continue in business.
We are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which dlsclose with reasonable accuracy at any time
the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensllre that the financial statements comply with the
Charities Act 2011.
We are also responsible for saftguarding th¢ assets of the charity and taking reasonablc step5 for the pr¢Yerrtion

We report on the financial statements of the charity for thc year ended 3 1st March 2025. whi¢h are set out on
pages 6 to 12.
The financial reporting framework that ha5 been applied in th¢ir preparation is applicable law and United
Kingdom Accounting Standards including financial Reporting Standard 102.
Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Ex#miners
As the charity's trustees, you arc responsible for the preparation of the accounts. You also consid¢Y that the audit
requirement of Section 144{2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) does not apply and thal an independent
examinaiion is needed.
Having satisfied ours¢lves that the charity is not subject to an audit and is eligible for inde￿Ident examinalion,
it is our responsibility to:
(l). exnmine the accounts under seciion 145 of the 201 l Act
(ii). to follow the procedures laid down in the general Dircciions given by the Charity Commission under
section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act., and
(iii). to state whether particular matters havc Come to our attention.

Our examination was carrted out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity
Commissioners. An examination inLludes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a
comparison of the accounts presented with Ih05e records. It also includes consideration of any iinusual itLms or
disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanattons from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The
proccdures undcrtaken do not provide all the evidenLe that would be required in an aiidil, and conscquently no

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
(a) Accounting Convention
The accounts are prepared under the historical cost convention.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the statement of Recommended
Practic£: Accounling and Reporting by Charities preparing thetr accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (Charities SORP Flis 102
and th¢ Charitie5 Act 2011).
CACFO UK constitutes a public bEnefit entity as defined by FRS 102
{b) Income
All incoming resoiiTces are includ¢d ID the statement of financial activities when the charity is entitled to
the income and the wnount can be quantified with r¢asonablc accuracy. The following specific policies
are applied to particular categories of income.,
Vollmtary inwrne is received by way of grants. donations and gift and is not conditionAI on the delivery
of a specific perforinance by the company, and 15 rccognised when the cliarity becoines unconditionally
entitled to the grant.
Investment income is included when r￿1Vable.
Incoming resources from charitable trading activity aye accounted for when earned. Incoming resources
fivm grnnts. wherc rclated to perforniance and deliverables, are accounted for as the charity carns the
right to the consideration by its perforniance.
(c) Depreclation
