The Huge Partnership Report & Accounts 2024 - Overview of the Year About Us The HUGE Partnership, a UK registered charity {11536401, was created in 2013 to promote education in Uganda. It specifically provides financial and resource support to the Nabugabo Community Learning Centre, a rivate NGO set up in 2012 in the district of Masaka, SW Uganda, solely to provide ucation and support to vulnerable and disadvantaged children. who would otherwise not be able to attend school. Now in its 13" year, NCLC provides umbrella support to the Nabugabo Community Primary School, the Secondary Education Fund and ongoing initiatives in the community relating to education, welfare, recycling, and female empowerment. The governing principle of HUGE is to provide children, most at need, with a caring education, a confidence in their own abilities and genuine belief and ambition that they can contribute to the future success of their lives and those of the community. 2024 at a Glance . Extension to Beatrice House to provide further residential accommodation for girls most at risk. . Redecoration of school library including new floor. . New classroom furniture made from recycled plastic to overcome the challenges of termites. . Rethatching of the Round House, the focal point of the school for assemblies, drum and dance, staff meetings etc. .Timber repairs to staff accommodation damaged by termites. . Strengthened safeguarding training for all staff. . Introduction of phonics testing as part of early years programme. . Introduction of PSHE workshops for primary children on the following topics- Adolescence, Personal Values and Rights in relation to Health and Gender. . Reusable Afripad packs given to girls for home. . Community engagement with the giving of 350 bras donated from the UK. . Construction of house by students from Pangbourne College for a family in need. .Continued partnership work with Pangbourne College and Sotogrande International School. Our Impact . 140 children received free primary education and wellbeing support (food and healthcare) who would
otherwise not be able to attend school. . 60 students supported through secondary education who would otherwise not attend. .65% of all students were girls which means they are staying in education helping to reduce early marriage and child labour risks. .100% pass rate at PLE (secondary school entrance exam) for 20 students sitting the exam in November 2024. . 8 secondary school students, funded by HUGE, achieved 9 0 levels. This was the first cohort to sit O levels. 12 girls in safe residential accommodation. .12 students from Pangbourne College visited Nabugabo building cross-cultural understanding and support. .3 female staff members funded to complete their professional diplomas strengthening local teaching. . Families and the wider community benefitted through outreach, housing, and livelihood support. . All students partake in extracurricular activities including sports, and traditional drum and dance. Expenditure 2024 Our Supporters & Partnership We are a 100 % reliant on fundraising and donations. We are deeply grateful to our individual sponsors, partnership schools, and grant-making trusts whose commitment makes this work possible. Key relationships in 2024 included: Sotogrande International School and the Kindred Project Pangbourne College Beatrice Laing Trust ESG Robinson Charitable Trust Nicholas James Hair Salon Kitchen Table Charities Trust Looking Ahead In 2025 we will continue to strengthen education and safeguarding at Nabugabo, expand support for secondary students, and assist where appropriate on key community initiatives. In particular, the School Development Plan for 2025 highlights the following priorities: Improve numeracy programme in Early Years. Build on Phonics testing programme in Early Years. Improve Additional Needs teaching throughout school. Whilst we are proud of the 1000/0 pass rate at PLE, our goal is to raise the levels attained. Continue to foster our key relationships. Develop new relationships with Ugandans both in the UK and in Uganda, as well as with others who share our commitment to education. trustees in the UK, with no overhead costs and no expensed raised by any of the trustees. We comply fully with UK Charity Commission regulations, safeguarding protocols, and financial reporting standards. A full set of policies and procedures are available for inspettion.
