ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitxble aelivities
Food distribution to our partners:
The demand for food b), partners and people in food crisis has continued to grow this year. predominalely, as a result
of ihe cOsl￿f-lIv1ng crisis. changes within the benefil system and w)licy changes by the new government.
- Our front-line partners continue to experience incre&sing demand for food from Ihe communilies they serve.
In 2024, we delivered in excess of 353 tonnes of foo& the equivalenl of over 842,1)00 meals.
Food Supply Chain
Il'e have continued to deal with back of slore and now mhke over 220 ¢olle¢tions from suppliers each week. This gives
us access lo all the major retsilers.
Our f(Kus this year has been developing relationships directly wilh local growers and large food distributors io res¢ue
food that otherwise would go lo landfill. We are startin¥ lo ¥ain traclion with a nurnber of new paTtners and expecl these
relationships land tonnagel lo grow during ?025.
We have also strengthened our relationship with partners in the Excess network {other f(KKI redi5tribulors across the
UK), which has given us access to a range of new partners and therefore variety of fo(Kls via "swaps"
We are working collatrf)ralively with Eg'gcup in Lancasler to further reduce our foL*J waste by turning il into ready
meals - I lonne of food waste &qn be lumed into 600 meals by catering swdents and chefs. Next year we aim to expand
this offer.
StAff:
A new CEO joined ihe leam in January ?024, following the departure of the previous post holder at the end of 2023.
Under new leadership 20?4 has been a time of restructurin¥ of some roles and implementation of more dynamic
systems and processes.
The team is now settled with a pernianent FTE head count of 9. and 2 lemw)rary contracted people providing social
media and systems support respectivelj..
Volunleer Culture:
In 2024 we have maintained our volunteer numbers at around 150. This h&$ been superbly managed by our Volunleer
Co-ordinator.
We have always been volunteer led in lemis of workforce and as we continue lo grow our volunteers become
increasingly importanl. Our volunteers are crilical io the work and we could not do what we do wiihout their brilliant
support. Their spirit and dedication are a huge asset to the organisation.
We have also provided corporale volunteering opportunities this year, Ihal have seen employees from a number of
Fylde Coasi based organisations spend time at our Warehouse supporting across the range of volunteering rol¢s.
We have collaborated with NW Probation setvices providing "Community Paybaek" opportunities for people to fijlfil
their hours volunteering at our warel)ouse.
The support our volunteers provided in 2024 was in excess of18,180 hours.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Financial position
2024 has been a challenging year for us as we soughi to establish and develop a new income generation strategy, with
the aim of ensuring suslainability.
Our In¢om¢ Generaiion Manager has implemented a number of new campaigns, aimed al local businesses, which are
beginning to bear fThil.
Our funding is concentrated across multiple streams. We received grants and donations from GIRsdons', Feeding
Britain. Rolary Clubs, Local Authorities as well as other local businesses sponsorships and individual giving.
Reserves policy
Our policy is to have al le&st 12 monihs operating capiial in reserves. Ai present we are under our desired position.
The importance of this as a straiegy, is that we occupy such a critical place in our local community that if we had io
close our doors. there would be a short-terni social crisis and our partners and end users would ¢xperi¢n¢e ￿al diffi¢ulty.
Toial reserves are £442.806 as at ihe year end dale with £126,744 of this representing fixed assets, therefore. free
reserves are £316.062.

Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Recruitment and 4ppointment of new trustees
New truslees are appointed by the trustees as a ixidy.
During ?0?4 we have moved to position the income generation and food sourcing operations under the name The BIG
FOOD Project, following the e51ablishment of ihe brand as a workingy name in 2023. This pivoting h&% allowed us to
project "big" in the sourcing of food and income and develop relationships with suppliers that oiherwise would have
deemed us too small to othenvise deal with. In addition, where we are seeking lo rescue food and work wilh food
suppliers outside of Blackpool. it removes any geographical bias and limilalions. As we look forward, we see ihis &s the
"umbrella ￿.￿rkIng name" under which our current and in-development and new. services will sit.
The focus for ?0?4 has been stability. of operalions and development of an infrastNcture which will support the
organisation io be self-SUSiaining in the future.
The core work of supporting our statutory partners ivith crisis f￿d pa¢k'age& supplying our charitable partner network
with food and consolidating our BIG FOOD Trnck setvice with predominalely rescued surplus f(K)d h&s continued.
2024 also saw the strengqhening and re*stablishment of relationships wilh key slrategic partners across Blackpool,
Fylde and Wyre. which have resulted in the organisalion becomin¥ a parther wilh the Council on the HAF provision and
also BCH provider of warm spaces. In addition, our partner network h&s grown again to in excess of 120 active partners
of which over 80 receive food from us each week.
In-order lo facililale this byrowth and additional setvices following some personnel changes and restructuring the charity's
food sourcing managei has groivn the fix)d supply ¢hain and has become an aciive m¢mkr of the food surplus networks.
One major benefil of this has been the ¢ollabordtion wilh Eggcup in Lan¢asier who have helped us reduce our wasie by
rning edible waste food inio delicious and nutritious ready meals.
