The trustees present their report for the year ended 31st March 2023 as follows:

Welcome to our formal TENTH Annual Report about our activities. Having come out of the Covid-19 restrictions, we have resumed our full programme of activities.

We have continued the redevelopment of our premises to create capacity for Islamic Study classes for boys and girls. A new mezzanine floor has been added. We have also installed a Platform Lift to facilitate easy movement for disabled users.

We are just started a Reserves Fund to build up financial resources for the purposes of future developments.

The Board appointed the 4 Office Bearers as the Holding Trustees of the Charity.

In addition to the above, we are assisted by individuals who bring specific skills that help us in achieving our objectives.

Our main activities were the Opening Ceremony of our upgraded facilities, attended by 100 people.

We also celebrated 10 Years of Service . We acknowledged contributions made by several individuals. Our Chief Guest was the Mayor of Stockport Councillor David Wilson, who handed out tokens of our appreciation.

Madrassa

Annual Progress Report

Quba Masjid Madrasah is Part of SMCCA to provide Islamic religious education to the community children from as young as 5 years old.

Children are taught not only to recite the Religious Book properly, but they are taught to practice its teachings throughout their lives.

We started in mid-April last year with just over 50 students and now we have over 150 students divided into Ten (10) different classes.

We concentrate on Moral education as well as the Islamic education, we teach our children to respect their family members and make them aware of their rights whereas we highlight the importance of respect and equality for other humans and abide by the law of the land at the same times, which falls within our Sharia rules.

We have now properly purpose-built Madrasah classrooms on the first floor of the building where students can study uninterrupted and concentrate fully on their daily lessons.

Presently our Madrasah classes run only for an hour and a half from 5pm to 6.30pm during weekdays and due to excessive demand, we may start a weekend class for older children soon.

Our Madrasah students have their own football team who hire a football pitch nearby to enjoy football games during weekends.

Each classroom is now equipped with a whiteboard and an LCD screen for modern teaching technique and very shortly we intend to issue tablets to all class teachers to monitor students’ attendance and progress reports as well as keeping in touch with parents for day-to-day progress and other updates.

Our aim and target are to teach them all Islamic values to live among society in friendly manner, respect and assist others where possible and prepare them to become a good law abiding citizen.

PROFILES OF OUR OFFICERS

CHAIRPERSON With his background of working in industry, then as a Black Cab Driver and latterly as a Garage owner, Ghulam Rasool Ali he has built up a vast amount of experience of voluntary community work over the last 35 years. He has been actively involved in setting up community faith and welfare organisations to serve the local communities. He sits on many Boards of local and international charities. He is also a vigorous campaigner of human rights and is a proponent of peace and harmony. VICE CHAIRPERSON With a background of a practising medical Doctor in Pakistan, he gained an M.Sc. in Medical Dr Zahid Fahim Microbiology from London. He is currently serving in the Greater Manchester Ambulance Service. He is also engaged in community welfare activities, especially in the field of education. GENERAL SECRETARY A graduate from Azad Kashmir, he is engaged in extensive charity work by fundraising to deliver Mohammad Fazil projects in Pakistan, e.g. Establishing a Girls Middle School, providing financial assistance to 200 deprived students, and having just completed the building of a 50-room hospital. FINANCE SECRETARY With a background in automotive industry, he is a retired driving instructor. He chairs other boards of Qaiser Mahmood local and international charities. He is very passionate about children’s education in Britain and Pakistan. He helps in running a hospital in his local village in Pakistan. He is the Manager of our Education Department. Lead Member, Involved in several voluntary sector organisation. He is a key member of SMMCA; he supervises the Dastarkhawan Group Volunteers. He is Chair of the Buildings & Premises Committee. Financial Review

The main funding sources for the charity are charitable donations from the public and during the year, £245,061 has been raised. The Charity also received a (Qarze-Hasna) loan amount of £10,700 and paid back a (QarzeHasna) loan amount of £38,100.

The charity’s aim is to disburse all the funds at its disposal for the benefit of the recipients.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES

The Trustee are required to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of its surplus and deficit for that period, In preparing those accounts, the Trustees are required to:

The Trustees are responsible for ensuring proper accounting records are maintained which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

The Trustees may, in respect of any accounting year, elect under s133 charities Act 2011 to prepare – (a) a receipts and payments account, and (b) a statement of assets and liabilities, instead of a statement of accounts under section 132 (1) Charities Act 2011 if gross income in any financial year does not exceed £250,000.

The Trustees have confirmed that an independent examination is required under section 145 Charities Act 2011

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2023 which are set out on pages 7 to 10.

RESPECTIVERESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER

The charity’s Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.

The charity’s Trustees consider that audit is not required for the period under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT

My examination was carried out in accordance with general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanation from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S STATEMENT

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention

  1. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in , any material respect, the requirements:

  2. To keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and

  3. To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act
