Around 200 school age children are given a nutritious hot meal every day and attend the site in the grounds of a school for after school care and help with homework provided by teachers employed by the charity. TOTAL FUNDS held at 1 January 2022 were £18,756. INCOME Regular monthly donations total £19,960 (£13,818 in 2021). £136 was raised via Easyfundraising during the year (£0 in 2021). One off donations raised £8,183 (£6,000 in 2021). These included a one off donation made by the Oakdene Foundation of £6,000 and donations of £1,885 made by Cranleigh School. Therefore the total money raised for the year was £28,279 (£19,818 in 2021). EXPENDITURE Total expenditure for the year was £299 (£173 in 2021). The expenditure in 2022 and 2021 was almost entirely made up of bank fees. GRANTS We awarded grants of £27,913 to Sinetemba during the year (£26,659 in 2021). Therefore the contribution to reserves for the year was £67 (-£7,013 in 2021). TOTAL FUNDS held at 31 December 2022 were £18,823. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Reserves are held because Sinetemba is reliant on Elizabeth’s Children Charitable Trust to continue their work in Zweletemba. Whilst the charity is making every effort to secure ongoing local funding, there is a general scarcity in South Africa of funding for day to day expenses of charities and it has proved difficult to secure regular support. Elizabeth’s Children Charitable Trust is holding reserves which can support Sinetemba for just over 7 months should the donors to Elizabeth’s Chidren cease making donations. The Trustees feel that this would enable Sinetemba to cut back their provision of services to a self-supporting level. |
