GARTH CELYN TRUST / YMDDIRIEDOLAETH GARTH CELYN

Registered as a Charitable Incorporated Association 19th August 2013

CIO: 1153355

Trustees Annual Report for the year 1/4/2024-31/3/2025

The Trustees, on behalf of the Trust, are now owners and have full management control of the landholding, CAE CELYN, a site of National historic and archaeological importance, adjacent to the promontory GARTH CELYN, ABER, GWYNEDD.

This land was, prior to 1282, part of the demesne of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, the Prince of Wales: it was taken into Crown of England ownership in 1284, where it remained until it passed into private ownership in 1553.

The Trust had previously been gifted a one third share of this landholding, but now have purchased, after lengthy negotiations, the other two third shares from separate owners.

The Trust had £27,738 held in the Garth Celyn bank account for this purpose. The agreed purchase price of the approximately ten acres was £27,000- a figure well below the market value of the landholding.

Legal and other fees for this transaction, totalling £528.20, were paid to Cater Vincent LLP, the acting solicitors at Penmaenmawr on 5th December 2024.

It is registered with Land Registry.

No other money, apart from bank charges, has been withdrawn from this bank account during the year to 31/3/2025.

The landholding, Cae Celyn, is now in safe keeping, protected from inappropriate development and monitored on a day-to-day basis. Its future, when funding is in place, will be for public benefit.

Volunteers (who are unpaid and do not receive expenses) are continuing with the study of the area and the documentary evidence.
