STRATEGIC REPORT
for the financial year ended 31 August 2025
The trustees, who are directors for the purposes of company law, present their strategic report for the year ended 31
August 2025, in Complian￿ with s414C of the Companies Act 2006,
Achievements and performance
This year has seen a tumover of trustees, including our longstanding Chairman, Gerry Wareham, who has retired as
a trustee after 5 years of service. Our thanks go to all trustees who have supported the charity over the years, with a
particular thanks to Gery for his leadership of the charity over recent years. As some have left, new trustees and
prospective trustees have joined to offer refreshed support for the purpose and direction of the charity.
Ensuring security and stability of the charity for the future has been a keen focus of the trustees this year, with the
introduction of new policies, and a review of the charities intemal governance, procedures and controls to strengthen
operational and financial resilien￿. This will continue to be an area of focus for the trustees, including plans to fully
digitalise finan￿ and accounting systems and continue to evolve operating policies and practices through the lens of
continuous improvement.
Securing funding continues to be a key challenge and risk for the charity. The majority of income to support the
operation of the charity is secured through grants and donations. We are pleased to have strengthened relationships
with funders this year and secured funding to cover core costs and projects focused on mental health, physical
wellbeing, cooking, sports, community outreach and other activities. Without the support of our funders, and donations
from the local community, we would not be able to continue to provide our vital services to the community.
While our main Sour￿ of income remains grant funding, we are especially pleased that our young people helped to
raise over £3,000 in our summer fundraising event, walking part of Hadrian's Wall with staff and volunteers to raise
funds for the charity. We also continue to receive support from local community sponsors and groups, including two
private donors who generously funded part of our rent and staff costs for a period in the year, and Red Sky Ukelele's
who have been a long-standing supporter of YPC. We are very grateful to the community for their support, as
donations outside of grant funding are vital to cover core costs that are not always covered by grant funders.
Our youth sessions continue to go well attended, with over 200 unique young people accessing our services this year.
Young people of all interests and backgrounds access YPC as a safe space with support from trusted adults. Vvhether
attending for specific activities, social connection, a chat with one of our staff or volunteers, or just for a quiet space
away from the outside world, we are delighted to continue to provide this vital service to the community.

Unrestricted funds consist of General and Designated funds.
General funds represent amounts which are expendable at the discretion of the board, in furtherance of the
