Achievements and Performance
As Tring Together celebrated its 18[th] anniversary, the charity continues to change and grow to suit the needs of our local community, living our vision to “Enjoy Life in Tring!”
All of this is only possible due to the community spirit that is the at the heart of Tring, and the passion and creativity of the Tring Together volunteers and Operations Team. Thank you to them all.

Our Big Community Events
The Spring Fayre 2023 fortnight of activities were back for another year of activities to encourage people to move outside and enjoy Tring in Spring. Moving into the Autumn we were a partner in Tring’s Own Apple Fayre , helping with marketing and logistics behind the scenes. Dinosaurs came to Tring in the May half term. In partnership with Tring Town Council and the Local History Museum, we created on a free event for families in the Memorial Garden. Over 2,000 people came to visit during the two days.
The Summer Carnival 2023 was a week of severe storm warnings and the cancellation of pretty much every event in Hertfordshire. Luckily our evening events went ahead without any disruptions and we even managed to put a brave face on Carnival Day.
The Christmas Festival 2023 was the ‘best ever’ with three musical performance stages, live reindeer and lights in the Memorial Garden, stalls in the High Street and Victoria Hall. A wonderful time was had by all; visitors, performers and volunteers alike.
To reinforce our vision to Enjoy Life in Tring!, Tring Together facilitated the town celebration of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Coronation.

Tring Music Partnership was created in June 2021 to get community music back on its feet following the Covid pandemic.
Music benefits everyone’s mental health and wellbeing and we want everyone in our community to have the opportunity to take part in music.
We deliver our own events and workshops and work in partnership with schools and existing music groups to support and connect everything musical in Tring.
Here is just some of what we achieved in the past year
-
Ran free youth musical theatre workshops for over 60 young people
-
Ran free youth jazz and musical theatre instrumental workshops
-
Supported the FOTCH charity with musical performances on their Family Fun Day
-

Community Group Action is our popular quarterly community update, supported by a community calendar on our website.
Tring Together at the Nora Grace Hall. Our tenth year at the Nora Grace Hall was one of re-growth post-Covid. We were very grateful that our landlords, Tring Town Council, undertook some much needed exterior decoration in the Spring.
Tring Cinema goes from strength-to-strength and is much appreciated by their sell-out audiences. The team that run the cinema know their audience and they know what makes a successful film evening.

Members and Supporters
Tring Together BusinessMart. We have over 550 up-to-date BusinessMart contacts on our database. During 2023 we produced a monthly Business E-Bulletin, to showcase Tring businesses and our monthly BusinessMart meetings are famous for being welcoming and friendly. Our mantra is that we want people to get to know each other, then to trust each other and then to work together. We also ran 6 NetWalks, which were very popular and introduced us to a lot of local business-dogs.
Volunteers. We are blessed with a large pool of volunteers, most of whom support us for the big town events. We could not put on our events without them.
Donations, Grants and Fundraising are our main source of income. This year our diverse events included a golf day at Stocks in Aldbury, a pop-up restaurant, a charity walk by one of our Trustees and the Big Quiz at Tring Carnival. Our grant applications are also from diverse sources of funding, and are growing in importance every year.
We received a grant from Tring Town Council towards running costs, from Dacorum Borough Council for major town events and from Herts County Council for the Spring Fayre and Tring Music Partnership.
Marketing. Our website is www.tringtogether.org.uk. We use the social platforms Facebook (3200 followers compared to 2800 last year) and Instagram (2356 followers compared to 2201 last year). The @VisitTring twitter account, which we run for the town, has 910 followers and @TringTogether has 1879 followers.

Charitable Objectives and Activities
The charitable objects of Tring Together are:
“ For the public benefit to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of charities, and the effective use of resources for charitable purposes by not-for-profit organisations and voluntary organisations working in Tring and the surrounding area by giving advice and assistance to enable them to meet their purposes.”
And in 2023/24 the following activities were identified as supporting our objects.
-
Running the Christmas Festival to provide local charities with the opportunity to raise money and awareness.
-
Membership of BusinessMart allows charities access to local businesses to raise awareness and increase support.
-
Charities are included in BusinessMart and Group Action meetings to raise awareness for their causes.
-
Group Action networking meetings facilitate charities meeting each other to learn and share good ideas.
-
The Nora Grace Hall is a community hall, available for hire to community groups at a very reasonable price. We have some legacy supported groups that pay no or very little rent.
-
We provide opportunities for people to volunteer and therefore help their local community.
-
We pull together groups to work in partnership to get involved in community projects; e.g. the Coronation celebrations were 6 months in the planning.
-
We communicate wider opportunities for community groups (and local businesses) to benefit from large events, e.g. Dacorum Business Regeneration, Community Action Dacorum opportunities.
-
We assist Community Groups (and businesses) to make links and contacts in the town by being a “go to” place for information.

Future Plans
Our plan for 2024/25 is to continue to grow sustainably. After the shock of Covid, we now have three solid years of financial stability, at the same time as growing the number of activities with which we are involved. At the time of writing, we have just had the “practically perfect” Tring Carnival. There is excitement over the success of the Tring Music Partnership gala at the Victoria Hall, then the Big Band Extravaganza I at the Court Theatre and THEN the Big Band Extravaganza II as part of the Carnival. It’s great to see Tring Cinema still selling out every screening. And D Day 80 saw Tring Together again being the “go-to” group for town events.
Tring Together are tremendously grateful to their supporters and friends; from individual volunteers who give their time to carry out specific jobs, to businesses who provide sponsorship for events such as the Christmas Festival, and to our Trustees and others who provide advice and wisdom as we set out, yet again, to do lots of new things to help people “Enjoy Life in Tring!”
