For

ECCLESHILL COMMINITY ASSOCIATION LIMITED

Particulars

Charity No. 1152847 Company Registration No. 06308309 Registered Office: The Mechanics Institute Stone Hall Road Eccleshill Bradford BD2 2EW

The Charity's objects

The charities’ objectives remain focused on being available to further or benefit the residents of Eccleshill and surrounding areas. This is carried out without

distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authority, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to provide facilities and advance the wellbeing of the community in social welfare for recreation leisure time occupation with the objects of improving the conditions of life for residents.

In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power to institute and continue with the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objects.

The Charity's main activities

The charity is based In Eccleshill Mechanics Institute, where it provides a number of rooms for a wide variety of activities, some initiated by the community association itself, while others are provided by groups who hire space for work which is consistent with our aims and priorities. There are further room hires on a commercial basis which provide income to ensure the commercial viability of the charity.

Over the past financial year the Trustees have not had the ability to continue with the overall improvements to the building carried out in previous years due to downturn in income and some larger costs incurred as part of keeping the building maintained and in a safe condition.

The café continues to be the focus for the community at the heart providing safe space for a number of our service users. The café also continues its ability of generating income all of which is the used to continue to run a successful charitable association. The year would not be finically complete without mention of the ever increasing utility costs which have had to be borne out of trading, no other grants are received in this regard.

Our greatest asset is the small number of volunteers who enable the income to be profitable by providing time and expertise mostly on a voluntary basis with just two contacted individuals who clean the building and manage the café.

It is clear that the Trustees will need to focus on bringing newer volunteers into yh charity to steer this entity forward into its next growth phase.

The trustees continue unanimously that is there are no employees, we are a charitable community organisation run by volunteers with the exception of some contract in some services.

In setting our objectives and planning our activities our trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission's general advice on public benefit. The organisation has continued to provide facilities for a wide range of local groups of varying ages serving Eccleshill and the surrounding area, as well as organising its own events to strengthen community activity and the well-being of individuals, particularly the elderly and isolated residents, from different parts of this urban village at the heart of a Bradford Ward which is the 9th most deprived out of the 30 in the City of Bradford Metropolitan District.
