and so we place our players, referees and
volunteers at the heart of our organisation,
participating in our service delivery and design
ensuring our work is based around their needs.
We offer the opportunity to shape, and be a part
of something positive, communal and fun,
providing a constant in people’s lives, and an
escape from sometimes chaotic and difficult
circumstances.
Our approach to our work, is asset based,
building on resilience, independence and
capacity across our community. We will provide
a sustainable service for our community, one
that has high impact, for low costs and that
contributes to shared outcomes with our
partners delivered in a professional

this by building a community around football,
that includes our players, referees, volunteers,
our sponsors, supporters and followers.
March 2021 – March 2022 was a yet another
challenging but exiting year for Street
Football Wales. With every changing
restrictions introduced by the Government
due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Street
Football Wales adapted its approach to| meet the demands of its participants and ensure everyone stayed connected and part of the Street Football Wales team. Street Football Wales has delivered drop-in football inclusion sessions in Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, Merthyr Tydfil, Brecon and a bespoke Woman only project in Cardiff. Street Football Wales has engaged over 230 people and delivered more than 190 inclusion sessions. **The Four Nations Challenge Cup Edinburgh 2021** The annual Homeless World Cup was postponed again due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. With international travel being a major cause for concern with the transmission of Covid-19 the Homeless World Cup Foundation planned a home nations event hosted in Edinburgh Scotland. This event would offer our Street Football Wales participants to complete on the national stage in a smaller Cup against our UK partners, England, Scotland, and Norther Ireland. 16 Street Football Wales players participated in this event with 8 male and 8 female players representing Wales. **Cup competitions** We have delivered our bespoke cup competitions engaging hundreds of socially excluded people across Wales. We worked with a number of partner organisations to enable these events to go ahead. The competition took place in Cardiff, Swansea and Brecon. We also participated in a series of friendly games days with other partners including a variety of football inclusion teams and supported housing providers including the Salvation Army. Furthermore, we have piloted a bespoke women’s only project ad hosted “Women only games nights” which seen all of our female participants play other women’s inclusion teams. ## **Drop-in Sessions** Our drop-in sessions have been delivered to the highest standard in Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Merthyr Tydfil by our dedicated and highly skilled volunteer team. The sessions focus on personal development and fun. These sessions have been well attended with numbers continually growing. Our pilot Women only project has also taken gravitas in Cardiff where we have delivered numerous women only football drop-in sessions. Our sessions have expanded geographically following our strategy to ensure we provide opportunity across Wales. Our next expansion of the project is to run weekly session in both North Wales and West Wales. **Volunteers** We have continued to build upon our volunteer structure and programme and have upskilled them via a series of E- learning modules. Our volunteers are mentored and have created their own development plans. Street Football Wales worked closely with the Homeless World Cup foundation to deliver the first in person referee course without the HWC course leader Paul Natagale. Prior to Street football wales running this training course all courses had been run internally by the HWC foundation. This proves the trust The HWC has in Street Football Wales and out trustee and volunteer Natalie Handley to deliver the new adapted Street Football referee course. The course was delivered to 9 participants who all qualified as Homeless World Cup referees. **Recruitment** Street Football Wales have recruited three additional staff members to reach more people across Wales. Street Football Wales have recruited Sian Cousins (SFW volunteer) to deliver our bespoke Women only programme in Cardiff and Swansea. By expanding our recruitment programme, we are able to engage more people across Wales and provide mor opportunities for people to improve their wellbeing. To expand our reach Street Football Wales have recruited both a North Wales Development officer and West Wales Development officer.
